Much to my pleasant surprise my old 64 worked perfectly...for about 20 minutes anyway, after that, dispite playing games perfectly, the screen was in black & white, still a lot more than I was expecting.

Most of the paperwork is still there, including the orginal reciept...

Amazing to see the price! I had an Acorn Electron . . . my Dad bought it for the family when they were just about to go pop and prices were low. As with some of my other posts about vintage stuff . . . I sold it with all the games a while back. I don't regret that one too much ;-)

I must admit R.B., I often look @ all this stuff & wonder 'Why the hell am I keeping all this crap!' as it's of no use to me, but something about my hoarding nature just refuses to let it go...you know 'just in case'

The price is shocking, but I have no idea what it would equate to into days money value wise..maybe a mid range P.C?

Here's the reciept for my old Amiga 500...

. . . some of us are hoarders and others just don't get it.

The reason I've had to get rid of stuff over the years, is to make room for all the other stuff I've gathered over time. :-)

I must say, your approach / posts have encouraged me to look out for a few one-offs that I just like for themselves, mainly at car boots and generally TV related things like a bendy Baron Greenback earlier this year! They find a home on the CD shelves around my study.

I perhaps regret not keeping a few of those Britains Space figures . . . those aliens always reminded me of Cylons. I'll ave to keep my eye open for a few of those

Perhaps if you leave it switched off for another twenty years you can finish the level?

Many thanks.
That's the way to do it, R.B, buy the stuff you like & can live with..I admire Rene's ability to have a goal & stick to it, completing the set must give you wonderful sense of achievement, in fact a lot of folks here have have inspired me with thier varied collections.

Mind you, boss, after paying that much money only to be playing games in black & white 20 years later I may as well of purchased a Sinclair in the 1st place..computers just don't seem to last longer than 5 minutes, do they?

There was an article on the BBC news channel (the Click program) about old computers this morning. A lot of blokes trying to get these things matched up and working with modern technology. Some have managed too. It wasa really interesting piece.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

What do you mean it still works? Of course it does, they don't make em like they used to. ;-)

Great to see the real thing up and running, even if only for a bit.

Of course nowadays you can download a few C64 games on the Wii, or pretty much the lot on a home computer simulator, but it ain't the same. Got me wondering, though. Does anyone make audio downloads of C64, Atari and Speccy games that can be transferred onto tape for retro users?

nice pics! and nice to see it working.

recently won an Action Force game for the c64 on ebay which arrived today. havent seen many of the "full price" large cassette box versions for sale, they mainly seem to be the budget releases.
