well interesting, it looks like the work on the house is going to start sooner rather than later, there will be a lot happening, the whole side of the house is to be knocked down and rebuilt, the front door and inside door areas will also be rebuilt with brand new doors being added, the plaster in the front room and the command centre will be taken down and done again, possibly new windows the carpets will be cleaned, painting and decorating done as well as all the odds and sods that goes with these things,

which will mean we have to move out for at least 6 weeks

Hell's bells! Glad the work is starting but it's a pisser that it'll take so long to get sorted! At least you can plan the new command centre lay out in the weeks that you are out of the house.

Joking aside, if I had to leave my house unoccupied for six weeks and hand the keys over to strangers, I would put my entire collection into storage. Is that an option?

Security has been discussed, plus Annie knows the builder who I have met, if something goes walkies someone dies.

I'd still trust in a lock and key more. Is there an unaffected room which is off-limits to the builders on the opposite side of the house? Cram it all in there and invest in a lock, I would.

Have you lived in Fife at some point?
