Unrealistic Prices

Is it me or have some people got delusions of grandeur lately? I won a couple of auctions for a few things and they, have been about the going rate only for them to never clear the reserve. In most cases the item has been relisted with a monstrous BIN and is still unsold weeks later.

Have I missed something about prices doubling recently?

No, the fact things with high prices go unsold proves the point. Some people are just greedy and / or stupid. ;-)

Or they might not know how much to charge for items which is a problem I have when I go to sell anything.

I know its no AF but this one was one I posted on the Super Stinger post. Prime example of overpricing! I would'nt give more than 50p for this at a car boot!

That's madness . . . most of it's missing. Don't even get your 50p out at a carboot for this one Humby - there will be better around the corner :-D

I think a lot about pricing can come down to instinct, plus a little research. If that jeep were mine, I don't think I'd even list it, but if I did, it would be cheap as chips.

How many times did we have this conversation already?

;)

Seriously, it's the same over and over again: "Look at the ridiculous price this seller is asking!", followed by a link to the auction on eBay, a couple op pages people saying this seller is crazy, etc.

Exactly, just let the market mechanisme of supply and demand do its work.

Yeah, but we've been kicking about the place for seven years now, not everybody here has. I've seen many conversations resurface over that time.

There was a point where I would have killed the next person to post "hey, did anybody know there are Red Shadow variants with black gloves?"

Dave's "History of AF" article was a lifesaver for the recurring questions!

Most of the stuff im selling at the moment is based on questions i have asked on here and valaution based on other auctions...... some of them are crazy, battle tanks for instance, £199.00, i dont think so.

On the other hand my ATC is on at the moment and i have a reserve of £70.00, this is based on several that DID sell earlier this year for £70 mark and were in worse condition and without box..... its worth what someone will pay i suppose, trick is with ebay hitting it at the right time!

I saw Gaucho and Jammer go for £51 (i think) each last night
