Just went to pay for a couple of auctions and between me logging out of Paypal and going back to My Ebay I get a message saying I have been suspended      WTF?????

I have absolutely no idea why; all I have is an email with what looks like a bog standard notice. Here is the main bit below -

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due to concerns we have for the safety of the eBay community.

You may appeal the suspension by replying to this email.

Why have we suspended your account?

From experience we know that certain items and actions are more associated with fraudulent activity on eBay than others. As a precaution, we suspend an account if it gives us cause for concern. We then ask for more information from the member before we reinstate the account.

Please understand we're not accusing you of fraudulent behaviour. Our top priority is to ensure that eBay remains a safe and reputable place to buy and sell, so we'd just like to confirm some of the information you've given us.

Apart from that they haven't given me any concrete reason. I'm completely at alost as what to do now. They haven't asked me for any info at all.

What should I do about this? What can I do?

What is really p*ssing me off is I have seen sellers who have literally 100s of negative feedbacks and they don't get suspended

And I don't even know what I'm supposed to have done wrong!!!!

Contact e-bay to make sure they have said this and it's not a con and resolve it.

No, sadly it's all too genuine; have rang Paypal to find out what's going on apparently it's all to do with the amount of money/sales going through in such a short period of time. They need me to provide proof of postage for all transactions as well as details of my 'suppliers'. If I can't provide this info it's a case of tough sh*t and we'll hold your money for 180 days. And where not just talking coppers here, either. Being without ebay I can handle, but I've just sent out a £300 guitar today and I have no way of accessing the funds. I am absolutely fuming.

So by cutting you off you could be open to a dispute because you can't pay for that guitar. It doesn't seem reasonable behaviour.

Sadly, it's the other way around - someone paid ME £300 for a guitar which the courier collected this morning, and Paypal now won't let me access the funds. Worst case scenario someone gets a free axe and I'm out of pocket to the tune of 300 notes and I don't have a guitar. Next best case, Paypal let me have the funds in 6 months. Cheers, guys, real big of you.

I had that exact same thing a few years ago. They said I was selling too much stuff and I had to fill out supplier info etc for all items. FOr some crazy reason because I had listed some items as new they wouldnt accept that I had bought them and didnt open and sold on a little while later. According to paypal / ebay I had to wait for pos feedback from all the buyers or supply proof of postage. Suffice to say I could provide neither as they were all sent first class and they wouldnt accept receipts and not all buyers leave any kind of feedback.

In the end I opened a new pp and ebay account and I had to wait a few months to get at the £300 in my paypal account! Sorry to hear this has happened to you but I believe my suspension was due to my pp / ebay account not being completely 100% verified at the time.

That sucks balls, I hate their "guilty until proven innocent" attitude.

These f*ckers must have to answer to somebody. Try the banking ombudsman? I'd also write to my MP - you've not done anything wrong.

That's it, that's the one. Apparently I'm either a secret trader or a money launderer. I think it was flogging that guitar that tipped it over the edge, plus the amount of new stuff I've been selling (MOC figures etc). I must have had £800 go through my account in the last month alone. Just glad I managed to withdraw/spend most of it before they pounced. I know what you mean about positive feedback, too - what exactly am I supposed to do when half the buyers these days don't even bother leaving it?

Unfortunately I dont believe there is any right of appeal outside ebay or pp. Dont believe they have signed up to any kind of banking code from reading about other problems.

I do find it helps to contact various people at ebay though in different ways. I had a case (not quite as bad!) where a non paying seller left neg feedback with no contact. I went on live chat and explained the situation and that when I closed the npb dispute it didnt offer me the option of saying it hadnt been amicably resolved and went straight to "im happy!". The guy on live chat said he couldnt help in any way as it didnt breach their policy whereas the person who answered my email removed the feedback for me saying it WAS a breach of their policy.

I think as long as you dont get any disputes you get your money back and ebay (i believe) reinstate your account if you try and prve as much as you can. I know its still a huge pain in the bollocks and doesnt help right now but its something maybe...
