I be behind the times on this a little, I've but just learned about this
 Why can't they leave a well loved classic alone....

Love the original & it shouldn't be re-made, re-booted, re-imagined or what ever the latest buzz word is, in any way shape or form...needless to say this new version will not be on my "must watch" list @ all, Patrick McGoohan is & always will be Number 6

Be seeing you!

(By hook or by crook) I completely agree. I first noticed the dvd for sale in Wal Mart last week, shuddered, went home, read the synopsis and confirmed my fears. Even Sir Ian can't save it.

What makes directors and writers (and, for want of a better word, musicians) think they can re-do a classic only even better when all available evidence, common sense and probably the underlying laws of nature are screaming out that in fact, no, they can't? The utter, utter tossers.

Simple - they are stupid, or believe it will atleast generate some short-term, fast money from people who think "I'll give that a try." Did I dream the fact they are making an A-Team movie by the way?

Nope it's ( A Team film's) going to be released this summer, the trailer looks good...

I'm not totally against re-makes par-say, but The Prisoner is a step too far...the original is so... well... original, its of its time & should be left alone, just as the Avengers should of been. I'm a big fan of the 70's New Avengers b.t.w, it had its moments like Target & that one with the deserted city of London , but didn't compare to the Mrs Peel episodes @ all.

The graphic novel sequel to the Prisoner worked well but that was, I felt anyway, sympathetic to the concept of the series...written by some one who understood the premise of the thing.

Didn't this new version do very well in the states then? is this why I'd not noticed it...

Basically it boils down to everything that is wrong with society these days, imo. People just want to leech off others, take credit for things that they didn't create but want to steal, and also absolve themselves from any blame should it go tits up (i.e. I was given a bad franchise to work with etc). These fucktard T.V. execs are no different than football managers. They lose a couple of games, then they get the chop. So what do they do? Dredge up low risk series/ films that were great originally and look good on paper, then add their own retarded slants on them and feed them to today's impatient, fickle, dimwit audience. It doesn't matter to them if it does well or not as long as they have something to talk about by the watercooler or on the cancer viranda on Monday morning.

I think the A team looks sh*t as well. TERRIBLE casting. The new Murdoch looks like the old face, the new Face looks like a cheap Hugh Jackman knockoff, and Rampage Jackson is well known as a clown in MMA circles with NO acting experience. I honestly can't think of a worse choice to play B.A.
Think of it. Pretty much all of the old A-Team had quotes or plots built around him - Not getting on planes/ arguing with Murdoch/ big fist fights/ general attitude etc. That's not going to happen now.
They should change it to S-team. S for sh*t. :-P
