Blood for the Baron!

Hi all,
Whilst digging in the loft, for me old Smurfs, I came across this box of delights.. Remember when computer games came on old style tape cassette & took decades to load... ..& your folks would tell ya that £9.99 was too expensive, so you ended up getting a £2.99 budget game by Mastertronic? Well any ways, I recall picking this gem of a game up from a remainders bin @ Woolworth's in York during a day trip.. ..not sure of how clear this photo's come out, but hopefully you can read the instructions O.K... ...& of-course there are some screen shots on the packaging to show off the state of the art graphics (other systems may vary)! & just to prove that bad film licensed game are not a new phenomena Hope this brings back some memories, T'shot

Yeah, brings back loads of memories.

Kikstart was great, spent hours shaving hundredths of a second off course times.

Funny how I've only just noticed the missing 'c', presumably to avoid copyright issues with the telly program that it heavily riffed off.

That was a great little retro trip, Thundershot. I had most of those but I never had the Action Force game. I shall have to look into a C64 emulator.

posh kid with your c64! I had a c16, got one set up in my den upstairs,lots of mastertronic games but no real blockbusters for the c16. did eventually get a spectrum afterthe amstrad buyout and used to love getting ocean gamesin those big cardboard boxes and large cassette cases...

Does your C16 still work then TKW?
I haven't tried out my C64 since I put it back in it's box & into the loft all them years ago....I remember reading some place that if you don't play or wind tapes (both music & video) backward & forward every so often that the magnetic info' bleeds degrading the tape becomes useless & unplayable (how true this is I don't know) but I guess all these games are knackered & wouldn't play now anyway. @ least the packaging's in good condition & is nice to look at.
This may of been a budget rip-off of After Burner, but it played & looked a lot better, if the enemy (N.A.T.O) airspace got too hostile you could drop a nuke, limited supply of only 3 available during the game if I remember correctly..

yup the c16 is imn full working order, ive bought quite a few games frlm ebay and assumed most wojldnt wotrk as they will deterioratd if not read for z long time but allare in full working order and i spend a lot of time plsying on it...

Cool so maybe they would work after all?

I fired up the old N64 last month, to keep the cart's memory batteries charged up, but the games were almost unplayable on a modern widescreen Hi-Def telly...I had to borrow the old school (emergency) portable t.v. from under stairs.

Hi Monkfish ..the game, I'm sure, featured the telly shows theme tune, even if it wasn't an official B.B.C. tie in

I have too much retro computers and consoles to list. Probably around 50 machines I'd guess, Atari 600XL to TT030, C64 to A1200/CD32(SX1), 2600's, Dreamcast, Saturn, Jaguar, Lynx, Portfolio, N64's, Gaystation, Gamecube, Xbox, Genesis, Flashback and probably a few more I've forgotten about. I have boxes and boxes of software too.

Kickstart is a cracker, I have that for the Atari 800XL, bitch to play tho. Nice collection, T'shot.

Once a good game, always a good game.....

Mine was on the 800XL too. A bloody nightmare to find games for, having to scrape the money for trips to the big city to peruse a vast selection of about 5 games in stock, the same number of games that my C64 owning mates would go through in a week through their dodgy tape-copying scams.

But that left more time for programming, so it wasn't all bad.

T-shot, those links are great! I loved Kickstart as a kid. Just wasn't the same trying to do the same thing with a Raleigh Grifter and a tipped-over dustbin.
