Blood for the Baron!

I just scored a boxed SAS Para Attack on eBay, and I was wondering if anyone knew any way to get the creases out of the chute? The seller shoved it in the box and it's crumpled as hell.

The chute is plastic, so creases are basically the same as stress marks. Flatten the parachute, take a blowdryer and gently apply some heat. This is just a matter of trying what works and what not. Watch out with heat, it is plastic.

Do not iron!

What I did in the past was: tack the parachute to the ceiling (tack through center hole), put significant weight at the harnass and wait.

Immerse it in warm water and then press it dry? Or maybe dangle it over some steam from a bowl of boiling water?

I'm guessing, don't blame me if it destroys your toy!

The imagery that just gave me is really making me chuckle! I know we do some weird things as toy collecting adults, but I just have visions of Jaye stood on a chair suspending weights from the parachute when the good lady walks in the room...

That is a very good tip actually! Hot water will make the plastic softer without melting it. Melting point of polyethylene is around 120°C, so I would advise water not warmer than 80°C. Too hot water makes the plastic too soft, resulting in distortions.

Good tips, I got a complete US Para and a SAS Para Attack yesterday and the chutes are crinkly. Also the SAS chute is torn where the harness attaches to the chute, any repair tips? I was thinking heat would do it?

Last summer I had to go rescue my Fisher Price Parachute guy from next doors back garden after getting a bit to enthusiastic @ lobbing it out off my bedroom window, I'd forgotten to include the wind speed factor into my computations
