If SteveD did Convention Exclusives.....

THE BLACK GUARD

Image

These guys are the Black Majors Special Ops Division. The best of the best amongst the Red Shadow ranks.. The Enemy equivelant of the SAS. When the Red Shadows are just too damned clumsy, or downright not good enough, these are the boys the Baron calls on, but even he fears them, as they are fiercely loyal to the Black Major, and the Baron is very wary of this. The Baron often wonders whether the Majors cloaking of them in secrecy is him preparing for something in the future….

Their full name is “The Special Operations Division”, but so few people even know of their existence they have become somewhat of a myth amongst the Enemy ranks, leading them to simply become known as “The Black Shadows”, or “The Night Shift”.

So when a job needs doing swiftly, and without fuss, The Black Major simply sends in the Night Shift….until they are needed by the Major for other tasks.

These have been a “work in progress” for many, many months now (contrary to what folks may think in light of the Convention Black Major, who bears somewhat of a striking resemblance to mine! – I think they have spy cams installed on my customs desk!). When I get bored or get five minutes I make one. As I now have 14 of them, and the Major, I suspect I may stop, and focus on other stuff.

The recipe? Black CG’s, Cobra logo sanded off and decorative rope repainted red, before re-lacquering with a matt lacquer to make it look a bit more dull like body armour, SteveD RAH Shadow head, cast in black with TKW Stickers on helmet and eyeslit, SteveD Custom cast Bazooka. Same again for the Major, but with an original head stuck to the neck joint of the CG. Works well I think.

I will take some better pics of these once I get a chance to outside, as black with lacquer taken in half light is a freaking nightmare!

Eventually I want to get a 25th Black HISS for these to sticker up as a Hyena, and perhaps a ROC armoured jeep thingy.

And then, as with all good O ring figures, theres a 25th Anniversary style remake too:-

Apologies those pics are so lousy – taken very early this morning when both me, and my camera, were half asleep!

If anyone does want any black cast Shadow heads, give me a shout.

Kind of. A couple of the guys hiding at the back need a bazooka. Other than that, they're done. Leaving me to move on to other, monstrous projects....

Excellent work, Steve, a sinister looking crew, although their crotches are bound to be targeted in battle.
Oooouch! Yes, I'd not thought of that. It already looks like Predators have got their sights on them! Sort of a red cod piece!

SOD look amazing I like the way you used the same body for uniformity but gave the Major a more unique look.

:-D I was wondering who would pick up on these bing little sods first!

I figured the uniformity thin tied in with the Special Ops nature of them - like the SAS or Seals where they all wear the same gear into combat. No idea why they would have decorative tassles and red crotches to go into battle mind, but there had to be red in there somewhere.

Black Shadow is a bit of a tautology though...
