Variant Stinger arms

Probably not of much interest ,but I went to swap a few body parts around to make a decent looking Stinger driver.
The arms wouldn`t fit due to them being two different types at the top and on the torso there was extra plastic restricting the larger joints from fitting.
The hands on one set seemed to be a tighter grip too.
Checked the date stamp on both crotch pieces and they are the same?

I don't think I've ever noticed a figure having rounded bits like that, then I'm not the observant type.

Not sure what it is about hands, but I'm sure plenty of figures have slightly different hands.

I didn`t notice until the figure wouldn`t go back together properly, the new arms wouldn`t fit onto the torso.

ive seen that on my stinger drivers and think was a cross over while they moved to the rounded arms which had to be used with the new design torsos which fitted the ball jointed heads... when making customs which have ball socket torsos and swivel head era arms I dremel down the square peg on the arm and it fits perfetly with no looseness

Hmm, this could be an example of a UK Palitoy release versus a UK Hasbro release?

Realise it doesnt necessarily prove anything but ive had the "blocky" arms on at least one that came from the US but then again yojoe dont list any known variations which could indicate its a UK thing...

So what im adding to the discussion is ive got both types and ive no idea.

I'd reckon its just an evolution to the ball heads, as mentioned before. As for the date stamp, the stamp is restricted to the figures butt so they probably just didn't change it. That certainly seems to be the case with all my repaints were the dates are the same but the only variation is the country of manufacture. I.e. the 1993 Cobra Commander made in China is still stamped (c) 1983. I'll have to open a couple of the repaints or later figures to check now.

I've seen plenty of those chamfered arms but not on 82-83 figures.

I've seen this on a number of '83 figures, Airborne and Snow Job come to mind. Eddie, I think if you take the figures you have apart you'll come across the same differences. I think it might be a running change from figures that were initially released in '83 but then carried over into '84.
