BFTB Downloads Preference - PDF vs CBR
BFTB Downloads Preference - PDF vs CBR
Just a quick survey, what is the feeling about the new PDF downloads? Were the CBR files better? Acrobat is a far more established program, meaning most people have it already installed. But Cdisplay is properly designed for viewing comic scans, that said, the developer site has disappeared.
I can easily host the setup .exe again, but I know how dodgy it looks when a site asks you to download and install a program in order to view the download files!
I have hit a problem in that now the Download links automatically try to open the PDF files within the browser window instead of opening a download box.
Please discuss as well as vote!

I don't think it looks dodgy using .cbr (/z/7/t/a) format, it's not unique to this site, nor now to CDisplay.
I've found dedicated .cbr readers to better on both the Mac (SimpleComic) and the PC than .pdf/.jpeg readers, with the neat keyboard shortcuts for page turning and intelligent resizing of single and double pages.
That said, that .pdf is more widespread and might be a good thing since it gives the site contents more (immediate) exposure.

I voted PDF as I know its easier from your point of view even tho I prefer CBR, but not by much more. I'm still not a fan of simpleview either. I liked it how it was. Bah humbug. Sorry.

PDF is no easier than CBR from my point of view. Don't know why you thought that. So have you buggered up the whole vote then?

From the point of view that it will slow down thievery?
Did you change my vote then?

I can't change your vote. You've ruined it for everyone! I HATE YOU!
Apparently thieves can rip open PDF's as easily as CBR's. What I need to do is lock them all with a password (after figuring out how), but I can do that with either format.

Wellll..... why not just choose yourself? Mind you the poll has leaned in the direction I would prefer (by a Bee's dick) anyway. Rar is easy to password protect and a PITA to break.
Re: BFTB Downloads Preference - PDF vs CBR
Well yeah, me too. I far prefer CBR, but wanted to test the waters before changing it back.
Is there any way of mass-password protecting the 200-odd rar files in one go, do you know?
I'm reasonably certain that if I alter the poll to 'allow re-voting' it'll reset the score.
