The Black Major

This is part of my plan to recreate some of the original Enemy force using modern figures (without resorting to painting/sculpting etc) It's still very much a WIP, but I was trying various combinations of parts from the ROC figs and came up with this... I might see if I can get a vintage major's head to use instead...

Modern figures are'nt usually my bag but I like this mainly because you have'nt painted it. I think the head you have works fine. I don't think a vintage one would work but if you still want to change it why not something from the 25th stuff? Keep up the good work its gone a bit quiet on here custom wise lately.

Sometimes customs on here get overlooked humby in favour of other things.

I would suggest to paint the beret red, but I'm not sure if that would be too slavish to the original version...

So far it looks really cool. I agree with DA, or using an original head. I think using an original head might give a clash in style: very modern body vs. dated head. Hmmm, sounds like me looking in the mirror! ;)

BTW: I love the background. Very cool!

I like it! Personally I would keep the head as I have found that putting original heads on very modern figures looks a bit silly. I would personally paint the top of his berret red, rather than the whole thing. Down as far as the "elastic bit". I think that would give him more of a hint of the Major, without going too red? And then if you are feeling sterady of hand I find that painting those fine white "V"'s onto the shoulders always finishes a figure off a treat. Give it a go! If it goes wrong - let it dry then just redo all red again. Nothing lost but a bit of time!

TK's great Red Shadow logo would look good on this that's if his flak jacket can come off. I like this as you have had the same idea as me using ROC figures as Red Shadows.

Thanks for all the comments... The vest does come off (underneath is an eel torso... it had the red shoulder bits already - as I'm hopeless at painting!!)

I might try a vintage head (I used an Ironblood one on a modern fig a while back and it didn't look too out of place... viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5652)
(the major in this pic was my version 1)

I'm currently contemplating a dio story using these figs... so watch this space!!

Cheers
