Hmmm... it's based on a comic by Mark Millar... the only good thing I have read from Millar is a single JLA issue where Atom helped the League to defeat a conceptually-fueled version of Amazo. Most of his other stuff is disgusting. Disgusting for me that's it, like the loved-by-everything-but-me The Ultimates, which I hate (but the movie version "Ultimate Avengers" is cool, because it recovers the true essence of the Avengers).

lol! Harsh criticism there DA his Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men are some of the best comics I have read, I also liked the film version of Wanted.

Disgusting? How so? I've not read much of his stuff.

Baron, The Ultimate line was a sort of alternate Marvel Universe (like the movies and TV series are), and the Avengers version (named The Ultimates) took an approach that was very mature for my taste, ditto for the muties, though at a lesser extent.
I know Those comicbooks are well-liked by the rest, but I had to give my sincere opinion. I didn't remember that Wanted was by Millar, but I haven't read it, and didn't see the movie either because it dropped all the supervillain thing.

I meant, what was it that disgusted you? I'm not trying to to pick at you, I'm just curious. That's a really strong reaction.

Sorry, Baron. I guess I edited while you were writing your answer (I did a later edit AFTER reading your answer, but that was because I left a point incomplete).
For me, the Avengers are traditional superheroes (specially Captain America, who is my favourite superhero because no matter how the world changes, he always keeps his old-school values, which makes him the greatest hero ever), but The Ultimates seem to be a sort of grim'n'gritty version, which is a thing I tended to expect from DC superheroes (not so much, but if some superhero book became darker, it was more understandable if it was DC). Well, the current Marvel comics seem to be following the same trend, so...

The Ultimates includes a scene where Giant-Man and Wasp have a domestic and Giant-Man spays Wasp with bug-spray and then uses his Ant-Man helmet to sic an army of ants on here.

It also includes Hulk threatening to tear off Giant-Man's head and use it as a toilet, Cap booting Banner in the head to knock him out, Wasp flashing Hulk to distract him (we only see her back), Hulk tearing a shape-shifting alien's head off and eating him and also Tony Stark is an alcoholic and a womaniser. Cap has a fling with Wasp after she and Giant-Man are seperated and it's rather heavily insinuated that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are in to incest.

i like it. it's also balls-to-the-wall widescreen action.

and Bryan Hitch's artwork has to be seen to be believed. it's so realistic and so detailed, it's no wonder the issues were repeatedly delayed due to him taking ages to do the art.

such a shame Jeph Loeb then went and f*cked it over in The Ultimates 3...
