1st time I've ever heard of this myself, you get out of & let the car drive itself (slowly) whilst walking along side it!
I can imagine it's pretty dangerous on peaceful streets.. but are these guys brave or stupid?

Morons with nothing better to do (apart from run over civilians and eat jerky)
I was once walking down the street in West Kabul and three humvees with laughing Pashtuns in them drove by. Obviously I waved at them. They waved back. Over the radio net - and later that night on the national news - came the info that three humvees were missing from a US depot on the outskirts. The original drivers were probably doing exactly this ghost drive lark and then got jacked. LOL.
In Germany the Americans lose incredible amounts of monster kit, think UNIMOG (but much bigger) type engineering vehicles, esp. from around Stuttgart EUCOM HQ. Anyone seen Buffalo Soldiers? Not a bad movie but it got low key launch post-911.

Aw shucks, I guess there's just no school like the Old School.
Meantime, here's some GIJOE kit (inc. prancing upon his throne) stuck in traffic in central Kabul from about 3 years ago, a year before the 'Talib ghost-ride' incident Was gonna post some vid but need to check opsec clearance issues natürlich.
PS. I didn't take the pic. My numpty sidekick in the same car did and my driver and I kicked his ass later for doing so. After handing over the evidence for 'destruction' of course.

Can't upload the vid here (says uploaded file is empty) so utilized long forgotten blog.
The vid is from April, occasionally decide to get a bit of footage for posterity these days, all rather ad hoc. It was a year after the 'ghost' hummers rolled down the same road as I was getting a quick lunchtime kebab further up the road near the Russian Embassy just before the empty stretch to the Darul-Aman Palace. The Palace was nuked by warlords post-92 and originally by Soviet Alpha troops in December 1979 as they assassinated the President in the hours before the tanks rolled over the northern border. Anyone going to celebrate that anniversary?
PS. It looked a bit naff in blogger format so tried youmupp instead. Blogspot-Google-Youtube. Same sh*t, same company, different day.
