Guess what?

I hate to piss on everyone's chips but the Posties are doing it again! A strike is commencing tomorrow and friday in London, Ipswich, Leamington Spa, Middlesbrough, Bognor Regis and Newport. And only because it's a bank holiday no strike on Monday but again on Tuesday in Ipswich and Teeside.

I have no doubt that they work overtime too to make up for the backlogs. Oldest trick in the book.

Now chaps - I'm sure they have legit reasons for striking, and I'm sure they aren't just doing it to piss us off. I like our posties - as long as they're not thieving my parcels that is.

I'm sure that eventually they will reach a conclusion that suits everyone (until next year) and that then all of our goodies will eventually find their way to us.

Have patience my friends - you've gone 20 years without that particular figure, a few extra days so some hard working chaps no longer get a bum deal and can afford to take their wives (or husbands) out for a nice meal every now and then wont hurt us that much, surely.

It appears that the strikes are over pay, modernization, pensions and jobs. It seems the Unions want the government to bankroll their pension deficit (a big no no as they should then bankroll everyone's) and they don't want to modernize, in fact they have walked away from the talks. Can't say I have a great deal of sympathy the RM has been hopelessly out of touch with modern working practices for years and the unions have ridden roughshod over management for years.

You have a strong view on the unions there ODB my mum worked for TGU for a few years they only try to provide a good working environment for their members I wouldn't say they run roughshod over management.

Not a big fan of unions, mainly through having to deal with them. Also I know someone who worked for RM and the union members were appalling, threats, intimidations and bad work practices were everyday events. Still not as bad as the RMT.
