Plastikote

Recently tried using the clear super plastikote because this seemed to be a varnish/sealer but it just wrinkled up the paint work. Anyone else had this? Was I doing something wrong maybe? Has anyone else found a better sealer to protect the paint work? Also is the large cans of plastikote acrylic? I know they do an enamel in smaller.

plastickote sealer works on plastikote paint - if you use it on enamels for example it will really mess your paintwork up - the naron had this problem I think on his tomahawk custom...

i use plastikote sprays all the time and never have any problems though I dont like the new nozels...

It was plastikote paint with the plastikote super so maybe I won't find out what went wrong but don't trust the super now so need to find an alternative to seal plastikote spray. I am waiting to try and get an airbrush compressor for humbrol enamels as I think they are alot harder wearing. I have an airbrush but used to use it with gas canister.

sh*t!

You used it on Plastikote paint? I used it on all of my customs with no bother. What did you use for the undercoat?

It did do that to me when I tried spraying it onto Humbrol Enamels (was very tired), no idea who this Naron fellow is.

I know Wilkinsons do a home-brand equivalent spray lacquer.

Completely dry, plastikote undercoat as well but still looked like orange peel. So does anyone know is plastikote in the big cans acrylic?

Ah... did you use Plastikote tubs? I've never tried them, I've only ever used the spray paints.

Spray. Maybe I was just unlucky. Although if I know that the plastikote stuff is acrylic then I can source an alternative. Hannants model supplies on the net is good for a wide range of materials.

I have no idea! Did you use spray as the undercoat too? Which toy is it? Some metallic-coloured plastics do tend to be slightly oily.
