Geoff Campion - Legendary Battle Action Force Artist

Taking a trip down memory lane I found the following link about Geoff Campion, artist for :AFLogo: classics Operation Bloodhound and Operation Sealion, as well as :af: classics Codename: The Scrapyard, and River of Serpents (the odd page of which was rendered in glorious 3D for BAF readers). He paired with the great writer Gerry Finley-Day for all of them.

I'd always imagined that they were a young team, but it turns out that when Campion started drawing Bloodhound (and some other early classic BAF covers featuring many of the different :AFLogo: and :enemy: units if memory serves me correctly), he would have been 67 years old! Sadly he died in 1997 at 81. Not bad. He was even older than Joe Colquhoun in 1983! But he always imaginatively brought the characters and equipment to life, little details like the APC floating down the river as it could in real life ...

If you read the bio you quickly realise why he was so at home drawing all those Gauchos on the Pampas.

At the link, there is also artwork for sale. Here are a few for a quick trip down memory lane.

Brilliant!

I so badly want this page without the 3D rendering...

Glad it's of interest, was very happy to read a bit more about Geoff and his work.

I thought of that page too Baron, but weren't some of the ads at http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/comics/ ... index.html also 3-D? I can't remember if it was just River of Serpents. There might be a programme from Adobe to clean up the 3-D image and remove certain lines ... maybe Meertoh might know ?!?

There were three Untamed Untethered Unleashed ads which were later printed in 2D. I have managed to clean up the 2 Cobra Datafiles (Zartan and CLAW) and the first page of The Great Cobra Robbery sufficiently for the Colouring Project, but this one turns out sh*t no matter what, there's just too much text. :-(

Ah yes, the legendary :zartan: in his 3D pomp, spare face hanging off the tree branches ...

This might be an idiotic suggestion  but how about taking a high res pic using red or green lenses? Might provide a clearer pic cancelling out some of the multiple lines. If it temporarily helps relieve the frustration perhaps worth a shot ... Obviously don't use the original BAF 3D glasses 8-)
