In the new Star Trek film there are quite a few nods to previous Trek films and episodes. I'm not going to spoil everyone's fun by listing them all, (feel free to contribute!!!), but I will point this out;
As a fan of
Star Trek - The Motion Picture, I was extremely pleased to see a particular officer wearing this uniform at the end of the film...
Loads of gold nuggets in this movie..., feel free to add any that YOU spotted

. Play fair, take one turn and let someone else have a go.

I liked how they had the same names as characters in the original series, right down to the ship...

Kraken that is the idea it's meant to be a prequel to the original series

Is it a prequel or a new fangled re-boot thingy?, the sort of thing that spoils so much of my fave' child hood comic book,T.V. &/or toy hero's now-a-days.
How long untill we get "On the buses,the next generation" or a prequel to "Carry on camping"?

It does seem to piss on continuity but as far as I know it's a prequel not a reboot

Especially with Chekov in it who was never in the first series and does this film ignore the pilot episode with Pike as the captain?

Personally I'm not looking forward to it. The mere fact that so many people are saying "I don't llike STAR TREK but this new film looks cool!" is a bit annoying to be honest. Rather like with DR WHO: If you prefer the new series then you're mainstream, but if you prefer 'classic' WHO or TREK you're a 'nerd'. Seems they're trying too hard to 'fix' STAR TREK and move it out of the 'nerd margin' (when, in my opinion, it was never in there in the first place except in the minds of people who lack imagination)
yep! worries me how many people who normally take the piss think this looks cool...........
as far as dr. who goes, i dont understand how some people can like the new but not like the old, they really arent that dissimilar!
i was a fan of the old stuff, but then when they brought out the new stuff i wasnt too keen on destro, but it got a lot better with david tennant! the newest guy doesnt look too...... i dont know how to put it but im not holding up a lot of hope!
i know a lot of people wont agree, but david tennant is up there on my list as far as dr.'s go!
