My wife is always calling my action force stuff toys! Ii can be a bit embarrassing when she's trying to wind me up in front of her mates. I suppose they are toys but i would like to call them something a bit more..... grown up?

Hi Mark and welcome !
Toys are toys ! unless you want to be a bit more reserved and refer to them as collectibles ?
There is no shame, I am 36 and have had Toys all my life.
I have learned over the years not to care what other people think, some people will mock you ... but so what ?
You are never too old for toys and you can never have enough.
Non of my mates collect toys but they all respect the fact that I do, I think deep down they are secretly jealous ?
anyway F*&k what anybody else thinks, its what you think that is important.

The future Mrs SteveD calls mine all manner of unmentioanble things, but mostly derogatory. I just chuckle, and say "yes dear". My other half has no understanding of my I collect them at all, despite my explaining several times, so she now just reluctantly accepts that I do. When I met her I tended to collect hangovers, so it's a kind of progress really!
I'm with Andy - I just call them toys. If I'm explaining it as a hobby to someone I hype it up a bit by saying I "collect vintage toys", which most people can instantly relate to.

Hi mark, andy is right, what difference does it make what others think, i'm new to this collecting lark, and i was mocked for it, but i really couldn't care less, if you enjoy it then what the hell, just remember there are lots of folk on this site who are on your side.

Yes you are quite right of course, also it would be boring if everyone was interested in the same thing. When she starts again i will have to take the mickey out of her hobbies...err...whatever they are!

Hell yeah! You're amongst friends now. BFTB is like a pair of comfy slippers - when the real world gets a bit rough, pop on by, waffle on a bit, have a laugh, and everything seems a whole lot better!
