Blood for the Baron!

A friend of mine sent me a text to tell me there was a box full of Action Force comics in our local auction room.

Unfortunatly the auction is 11am tomorrow morning and I cant make it ( im working ) !

All I know is there is roughly 80 AF comics ranging from 1981 to 1989

I was going to ask him to bid if they were going cheap but have no idea what they are worth ?

I know the info is a bit sketchy but any help would be appreciated !

I dont collect comics myself so have no idea !!!

The price of them seems to have gone a bit crazy andy. I'm missing about ten for a full run so if there were any I needed in there I'd pay good money for stannd alone issues. For me I tend to bid a pound a comic on big lots, but that's perhaps ott? If there's 80 there must be some complete runs in there! Prices are so up and down it's hard to say!

Just re read that andy - got to have in mind baf only ran 84 to 86 I think? (not near pc to check my lists!)

There could be marvel af comics given those dates? Prices vary so much on ebay its hard to get a good idea of true value but hopefully if its being sold in an auction room (assuming its not a dedicated comic sale) there wont be many people seriously interested and they might go quite cheap...

If they are marvel era af I would be interested in taking any off your hands you dont want...

I dont really want any, but thought it would be a shame to let them go at auction for a fiver or something ridiculous !

It is just a standard mixed auction, they sell garden stuff, pots,beds, sofas, electrical goods, etc ... basically anything second hand sells !

I may ask him to bid up to 20 quid and see what happens ?

just checked few watched items from last few days -batch of 30 running from jan to July 84 just went for £37. Another random set (not consecutive) of 13 from 1983 went for about £7! Idsay worth a twenty quid punt at least! If you win them I'll send you my missing issues list and cross my fingers!

well if I win these for a fiver they will be free to a good home, Im just thinking .... some people buy at auction to sell on Ebay etc so some collector or other may bid on a job lot of 80 comics regardless of what they are to make a profit ?

I suppose if I look at 50p per comic then theres 40 quid, but thats more than im prepared to shell out, so I think I will stick to 20 quid max and hope for the best !

Im missing a few issues myself, so if you do win these Ill definatley be interested in trying to fill in my gaps , if they are in it!

That's pretty high for a miscellaneous set. I'd guess they will surface on Ebay as separate lots by some profiteer. that's the thing with local auctions these days - you get people buying up stuff they often know too much about just to try to sell it on. I deal with auction houses quite a bit through work and they say it themselves - Ebay Buyers have come to form a big part of their attendees. Auction bargains are as rare as car boot sale finds unfortunately.
