What do you get if you cross Baron Ironblood and a wave 1 desert rat? (and some paint and masking tape)
A footballer!
combining my passion for

and my beloved Blyth Spartans, I made this monstrosity! It's not exactly finished, I intend to make a Drager decal to replace the temporary hand painted version. Also Humbrol gloss paints are f*%$£!g frustrating to use.
It's all inspired by the Action Man footballer outfits from the 70's.

Thanks for the comments! I'm exceptionally frustrated with the gloss paints at the moment, so will return to him later, when I've finished my 'proper' wave 1 custom, hopefully soon!

I think this is a wonderful addition, very Palitoy!
As for the paints, I can sympathise. When I was a kid, I used to use normal gloss model-kit paint to coat my bloody great Starships... it's perfect for covering broad surfaces. But a looong time ago I began to kitbash together a miniature Starship model of my own design, a ship far smaller than those I made as a kid. Naturally, I began using the same type of paint as I'd always done.
The bloomin' stuff is so thick, I've spent the last year putting on tiny layers of thinned out paint, letting it dry, sanding it down, using spirits, coating it, thinning it out etc etc to stop the gloops from obscuring the tiny surface details!
My buddy Mark, who uses
acrylic paint, coloured the custom Gaucho recently posted here in a
single evening...
AGH!!!
It's all a learning process, I suppose.
(muttering under breath)
... a bloody year...!

Muton this is great.

I think a big part of the problem is 'build up' around the masking tape edges. If you thin the gloss, it finds a way under the tape!
I'm still working on him though (I should have done the away shirt it's not striped!)
