Afrika Korps custom still unfinished !!! problems with hats

All this Action Man talk has reminded me that I still have this Afrika Korps figure on the go, I have recently aquired a few hats to experiment with ( thanks to Thekrakenwakes and Doubletap )
The problem I have now is which one to go with ?
The first basic hat is my original, the second two still need a little more dremmeling and are only rough painted ( need some black trim on the goggles I think )
Any opinions on which one looks the best ? also looking for some suitable binoculars ?

How about a cap instead? A Space force one repainted would look just the part.

The 1st one looks very much like a German paratrooper helmet. I think I prefer the second one.

the first one seems most suitable, the other 2 are WAY too modern looking.
what paints are you using on this?

Andy my vote is for the second Helmet. Like you said a little black around the goggles (Or Perhaps some more Brown) and it will be wicked. Great custom as always though Andy, whats next?

My vote is for the first one Andy - the others look a tad too big to me. And I still think this figure is one of my all time favourites - it would look perfectly in place in the Series 1 line up.

I am not sure about which should be the Africa Corps one but with the second helmet if you give him an SA-80 OR M-16 he is perfect for a modern british/american soldier all you would have to add is a few splodges of brown.
(The second helmet is perfect for a kevlar helmet
)

Hat issues aside Andy, I personally feel that you should change the legs.
The AM figure clearly has a 3/4 length coat which goes onto his thighs.
You should loose the legs and swap them for some Baron/Shadow ones that have the 3/4 coat effect.
The current legs make it look more of a Buck Rogers 70's cat-suit [rrraaarrrghh!]
Just my take. You are the master of these things.

Hatwise, I'd choose the second one because its authentic AF [a repainted space-force style one?] and therefore, for better or worse, probably closest to what it would have actually had.
