Watched a Marvelous film last night !!

I dont know if anyone has seen a film called "Silent running" ? it came out in 1972 !
I watched it last night for the first time in ages, and I had forgotton what a great movie it was.
I think it fills a gap for Science Fiction / Gardening crossover movies, I dont suppose many films fit into this genre ?
I found myself really caring about the 3 droids ( Hewey, dewey & Lewey) and I was devastated when they lost lewey !!
Anyway the ending almost had me in tears, and if anyone has seen this movie then heres my question ....
why didnt Lowel leave Hewey behind with Dewey ? I know he was faulty but ..... ??
that final watering can scene is one of the saddest movie endings I can remember !!!

I can't remember it! But if we're talking nostalgic Sci-Fi, I finally got ahold of Disney's The Black Hole last week!

I love movies with droids !
The 2 droids in black hole were great Vincent and Bob, I havent watched that in a while although I do own a copy. I will have to put it on my "to do" list

Old bob! I lost an auction for an old bob fig last week - he went fir 215 quid. It was then I realized vincent will never have bob by his side.

Bruce Dern .. space hippy lol .. it is a classic , think it as first film Douglas Trumbull directed (guy behind Star Wars ,2001 etc special effects)

i was toying with the idea of trying to find these figures .. perhaps I shant bother now !

Thats the one !! well I'm pleased someone else likes it too !
The effects were good thinking back this movie was way ahead of its time !

you're right this film is superb. And it nearly reduces me to tears as well

Were Bob and Vincent the same droid ? I only ask because its been ages since ive watched it.
thinking back I remember Bob dying !! another sad movie moment
