Warning: Controversial Comments Enclosed!

Right, I'm a pretty straight talking person, so I have to stump up on this as its not in my nature to say nothing.

**Warning: this is controversial, but no offence is actually intended, please don't hate me**

I want to preface this by saying that I think the Baron is really great, decent kind human being type of evil genius.

And there are a stack of really great people on here - you know who you, you've traded with me loads over the last year or so often giving me great deals and lots of free stuff. Hopefully you've had good deals and free stuff back from me in return.

So, the grand prize give-away.....

This is going to sound bad, so - again - please don't hate me.

The way I see it is that the 'hardcore' 10 to 20 of us stumped up the prizes, and then 10 new people joined up and walked off with them.

I got a sticker, so I didn't completely lose out, but a few of the 'hardcorers' who regularly post - and keep this forum alive - got zip.

I don't want this to sound like sour grapes but next time there has to be some more fairness.

Maybe two categories of draws, one where us hardcorers are in the hat for the best prizes [the shadow snowcat vehicle thing[?] this time] and any new Tom, Dick or Harry that signs up and makes one post the day before can have a different draw to win the less great stuff.

Surely this is more fair?

I have to speak as I find and don't mean to upset the newbies, but come on, this is only right when its us hardcorers who donated all the prizes.

Third time now - don't hate me - but had to get it off my chest.

Please also don't think that I don't appreciate all the marvellous work that the Baron, Jamar, etc all do. I think you guys rock, but I hate to see newbies win all the goods and bugger off....

I kind of agree with you here Paul,

I think we had 8 or 9 new members on the day of the draw, all with only 1 post ( which was their entry to the draw)

possibly a little unfair, but then again the draw was open to all ?

would have been worse if it was one grand prize and a newbie took it !!!!!!

ok, i still consider myself a newbie and i'm not at all bitter (much) that i didnt win anything but i agree 100% with everything you've said.
i think we should be doing something like this on a semi regular basis because even if 1 out of 5 newbies hangs about it strengthens the forum in the long run.
i think next time maybe you're idea about new/old posters could be put into effect

I had no idea how many new users there were recently or who won the prizes or even what the prizes were, but if people have just come aboard to pinch the prizes then that is out of order and I would second the motion to taylor the prizes accordingly to prevent such an occurrence from happening again. Easier said than done, subscription fees would be one method, but this could deter new members from joining

its strange, i lurk on a few forums but whenever i've tried to join in i've been pretty much ignored.
i lurked here on and off for a couple of years but now i've joined the gang i've been made to feel at home.
i now think i'm addicted to the site, on before work, in work, when i get home and before bed. the wife loves it as she now gets control of the tv.
its been said a lot lately but i've never met a bunch of nicer, genuine people

Never been a fan of forums really, til Paul sent me a link of Jimbo`s :zforce:
Haven`t been away since.
If the site ever goes down, frantic messages are sent via email and Ebay finding out why!
My wife sees a lot less of me now, either in the corner painting or posting some "toy stuff" on here!
Back to the question in hand, maybe with a longer competition entry time, everyone whom donates a prize has automatic entry into the draw in the same sort of theme as secret santa.

on the subject of friendliness !

would you like a cup of tea ? come on in and meet the missus !!

do you want to borrow a quid ?

I suppose a general interest makes for a friendly forum ?

for reasons unknown my friends and workmates dont "appreciate" my hobbies !!

i'm a closet collector
whenever people find out the usual response is "never thought you were a geek"
what i find weird is that people dont have too many problems with me collecting comics but when you mention toys you're looked at like you're not wise
most of my mates are into football which i dont get, so again i'm weird
