We all know that £19 is a little bit expensive for a :shadow: but what did AF stuff cost originally?
It'd be nice to compile a list of approx retail prices, just to see how they'd compare today.
For those who have boxed and carded stuff have a look if they have price stickers still on them!

Good idea! I'll have a look at some of mine and see. Although I know some are in Francs, or DM's!

The boxed ATC on ebay has a price sticker on it of £24.95, nad a reduced sticker for £17.95.

If you think about it in 1983 the price of a loaf of bread was around 28p
Now its over a quid, so really we collectors aren't paying daft prices when you take inflation into account!

I remember that very well as i was on holiday at grange over sands and the comic came to the paper shop on a wednesday (supposed to be thursday) and i didn't get home while the friday i bought all the battles and eagles i could in cartmel and then when i got home as i saved what i was supposed to spend in the amusments, The only machine i actually went on when i was there was the star wars atari cockpit thing, I spent the rest of my time runing around the dunes playing army with some local girls one is exactly 2 years to the day older than me and i had a massive crush on her afterwards. Thanks for the memory trip and reminding me of my lost love! LOL!

Did anyone ever have a 'rental prepared to buy the :zforce: Base at asking price? Or to loan the money for it? Argos came out with a last minute solution at Xmas '84 ... but everyone else got there first. Even in the days before E-blupp.

Back in the day, the figs were usually GBP 1.50. Some 1.40 offerings occasionally, but otherwise 1.75. Tho' I did go to Boots once with coppers and spend 1.85 on a :inf: cos I didn't have one and needed some expendable types. Wankers all. As someone once said here, oh how we are all so sorely tempted to invest so much value in such little (cheap) plastic.

I once bought :laser: -san and his techno-nebelwurfer for GBP 8.50 just as :AFLogo: was dying out before the Cobber sellout, thought I was a genius for not paying the usual GBP 15-to-20, and both the original and reduced price tags'll still be on the box for sure. Still got bollocked bei Mutter for not buying 1lb mince, bacon, eggs, 3 loaves, 8 pints of milk, the newspaper, a brace of chickens etc. and inexplicably having no change to speak of afterwards on't back of t'tenner that day. Was worth the verbal hairdryer fot t'hassle ne'etheless. Ich denke.
