An introduction from Shaun

Post by Shaunyboy »

Hi All,

A quick note to introduce myself and say how glad I am to have found Blood For The Baron!

I was glued to eBay, as usual, when I missed out on a Casdon Assault Course but thanks to Jim I ended up being pointed towards this fantastic website.

I'll keep it quick because most of you probably have auctions ending any moment!

I'm, 32 years old, I live in Chesham, Bucks and I work in the TV industry. Don't worry, I'm not a knob who ponses about in Soho drinking caffè latte. I work with camera systems in a hire company and drink caffè latte.

I've been collecting for a few years, started with Star Wars and had a tub full of Action Force in the loft. I couldn't resist bidding on a complete Alpine one day and when he arrived that was it! He was fantastic! Now the Star Wars are in the loft!

I have a question for those of you who have kids. We are expecting our first child in a few weeks and I'm a bit worried about how to treat the collection around them.
I have this vision of the kids wanting to play with the fabulous toys and nasty old Dad saying no?!?

How do you guys keep the balance?

I'm off to eBay again now. I feel better about losing auctions to some of you now I know ow great your collections and customs are.

Good luck to all of you!

Shaun :steeler:

welcome shawn

i have a daughter aged 3 and the way i get around the "nasty old Dad" syndrome is to give her a spare/worn figure

kids like colours so the brighter figs like space and q force are her favorites.
tell your child when he/she is old enough that this is your collection and that is yours if you get what i mean.

im lucky enough to have a spare room to myself (wouldnt if the wife had anything to do with it lol more kids ??? you got to be kidding lol)so all my star wars and af stuff is going on display there

hope this helps you in the future

and congratulations

neal

I have a 2 year old and I keep it simple by saying that the Figures are daddy`s toys and the Dora`s are hers.
She has got to the point of seeing the auctions and pointing out that they are daddy`s toys too :)
Mind you she does get her hands on them sometimes, only when she`s tired and trying to wind me up.

Worse? It is a proven technique used by the police: two thumbs and a tie rip.

welcome shaun i have two boys aged 6 and 2 they have around fifty figures jeeps and tanks to play with then i have my boxed collection which over time is getting quite big which is kept in a cupboard which they no is off limits without me but my 6 year old constantly likes looking at the moc mib stuff and after a recent visit to snibston discovery park he told the guide there action force collection was poor compared to his which he was saving for a rainy day

so basically find your boundries for your children its normally on a very high shelf or under lock and key!!!!!!!!!!!!

good luck
