New Red Shadows figures??? Need your opinion.

Since I've re-opened my shop, Captain Cosmos Collectibles [yep, shameless plug] I've been looking into the possibility of exclusive toys. The only real problem I've run into is that they would have to be ordered in rather large quantities. Now if I find the right toy, that's not an issue. But I HAVE to know they would sell before I make any commitments.

One of the things on my mind is new Red Shadow's. Yes, you read that right, NEW Red Shadow's.

IF things work out they would basically be existing 3 3/4" German solider's cast in red. So no distinctive helmet, and of course no mention of the term "Red Shadows."

For the moment lets assume the price would have to be in the $25 per figure range. The fewer I order the higher the individual cost would be. I'm not sure there would be enough demand for anymore than say 3000 figures. A lower price would mean something more like 10,000 figures though.

So . . . reactions?

Well, thoughts for sculpts would be the Rogue Red Shadows from the post World Enemy story, who were basically red Shadows without their masks - if you could get a selection of different bare heads and an articulated Black Major to top it off that would kick some serious ass - maybe sell them as 5-packs?

Another thought would be moulding some removable helmets and including them as accessories, although $25 a figure as pretty harsh!

The price point is FAAAARRR from set in stone. But it may be unavoidable. This will be an expensive undertaking no matter what direction it goes in. Compare it to Master Collectors convention sets. the price per figure in the 15 figure boxed set is typically around $18. Then their single carded figures, 2-packs and 3-packs are generally $25 each. I am going to try my best to keep it under $20 though.

Unfortunately, new accessories will be impossible. For one, just making red German Solider's MAY constitute a copyright violation all by itself. I'm not sure about that yet. But making a new helmet will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000 JUST FOR THE TOOL. Let alone casting up the accessory itself.

So this project, IF it happens can only be done with existing tools.

heres an idea, can you get a helmet less one?

then contact Alyosha and get him to sculpt you a RED SHADOW helmet that will fit on the figs head, He did RED SHADOW heads before and he does helmets so I think you could get him to do many of these and you could add it to the set

then you would have a removable helmet which would be better than the original, Id buy a few of those for sure

price is going to be your biggest problem your going to face though
