Coronavirus

Post by Doc »

How are we all keeping?
I am off from university, with no return date in sight.
Parents and uncles are in isolation on farms and in the country. They are all hi-high (Chemo/ulcers) risk.
I am facing becoming the oldest person in my family very very quickly if anyone makes a mistake in visiting they will be gone and I am resolved to that.

I hope you are all safe and keep warm and clean.

I'm home with my parents. We go outside for some farmwork, buy stuff or sell a few alfalfa stacks, but we don't dare doing any social visit for any microscopic chance of having unknowingly gotten the virus and risk contagion, specially on my sister who is about to have another baby (sure, maybe I don't have the virus, but why to take the risk?). That makes me very grateful for electronic communication for this period of time, as it allows us to keep some contact anyways, just like with you guys via the fórum and social networks.
In the meantime, since I remain at home, I keep playing with toys and taking them pictures, though I did that stuff before anyways.

Ok My fathers friend is just recovering from it. He said it was the worst flu in his life. He caught it while working on a telecoms contract in the UK, and brought it back to Ireland. After about a week he was moved from the bed to the couch and is now working on his laptop.

A lot of this is over hyped. The only real danger is if you have a serious respiratory condition. The infection rate is massive but the death rate is relatively low and I wonder with the pre existing conditions would they have succumbed to an ordinary flu virus?

I see that Peru is in full lockdown, does that affect you too? Like the way anything that affects the UK affects Ireland?

So far we aren't in full lockdown like Peru, but we may son be if people in Santiago doesn't develop some common sense; most of them are taking their work licenses as a vacation chance.

Well you read Charlies War I presume and remember how many died in the closing days of WW1?
We are in the first wave of infections in Ireland. The infection rates is massive but the death rate is low.

Its the second wave I am worried about. People are getting a little crazy but all in all its not that bad. Teenagers are struggling to stay in
I reckon we are going to get a break during the summer and then in the Autumn we will get the second wave.

An infection for a healthy person in the first wave might not be the worst thing in the world. You would get some anti bodies to resist the second infection.

The Medical teams of HMS Flagg are deploying to local hospitals while the ship undergoes upgrades.

What are your troops doing to help with the global pandemic ?

Right we are easing restrictions in Ireland. People are going looney and starting to disregard the Guards.
So we can travel with 5 km of our homes and some more shops will be opened
No relaxation on pubs and restaurants, sporting activities. Funerals only 10 family members permitted.
