Big Changes over at Disney/Star Wars
Re: Big Changes over at Disney/Star Wars
Honestly I don't know what to make of it. It's not new material. It's material half way through production that was cancelled by Disney. Disney were always a bit slow to react to the market/fans. Kathleen Kennedy needs to exit and Dave Filoni needs to takeover over all creative direction.
Re: Big Changes over at Disney/Star Wars
I'm not getting into this, I have thoroughly enjoyed every single Star Wars film on its' own merits. I've found the recent fan backlash and associated misosgyny and homophobia to be utterly vile. If you don't like it for the way it is done, fair enough, but if you're going to start criticisng the message for being politically correct, GTFO. Those days are over and rightly so.
Re: Big Changes over at Disney/Star Wars
No one is being homophobic. The films need to return to a more family friendly "G" rated films. We dont want to bring our children to films that we enjoyed as kids without excessive sexual overtones (Hetroxexual, homosexual or pansexual). Time and a place for everything. Go back to tried and tested formula (Reluctant hero, quest, team building, trials that change the character, sacrifice and final showdown). Keep Star Wars simple.
Re: Big Changes over at Disney/Star Wars
There has been a massive backlash of homophobic, sexist, racist Star Wars 'fans' who think that all movie heroes should be white, straight, males. Kelly Tran was subjected to such vile online abuse that she chose to quit social media for good. It's disgraceful.
I haven't seen any excessive sexual overtones in any of the new films, but I've not seen Solo yet. I would argue that every aspect of your 'tried and tested' list is present in the Last Jedi.
Sorry, mate, but I completely disagree with you.

Have some distressing news.
1) Original Withnail & O thread appears to have disappeared in the great BFTB crash of 2012.
2) REG has been cast in Star Wars IX.
For those who don't know what
is talking about, here's the original Withnail & O vorsprung.

The old order fadeth, giving way to new...

Not homophobic, Jim. My Cousin is happily married to her Wife and expecting a kid - she'll be a great Mum/Dad. But, there was sod all of any kind of sex in Star Wars, a little light romance, yes. It was more about the people and the oppression they had to deal with, not hand holding and nose wiping. My point has nothing to do with being gay or not. People who bully people on line are weak as piss, that is a whole nuther issue that has nothing to do with Star Wars TLJ being good or not.
What it was, was loaded up with weak characters and plot holes. As a stand alone film it doesn't stand so well. Even the Force Awakens snoaked it, and Rouge one is living proof Disney can write something that makes you think the characters matter. When Princess Leia turned around at the end, I bloody near wept. Same when she strode out of the shuttle in TFA.
George Lucas managed to make films that were original and had good character development (for the most part). They lured you in to wanting to see where they went, what they did.... not TLJ. So did Firefly, so did Blade Runner, so did Stranger Things... the truth is out there.
Anyway, Dave Feloni is back, baby, so we will have more Star Wars. I have a good feeling about this.

Just saw solo and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thought all the actors did a great job especially han and lando. Don't understand the negativity.
Even enjoyed the sjwbot.
Wish I'd gone the the cinema to see it.
Not a great movie but fun for all the family.
Still not a fan of TFA and hate TLJ but horses for courses.
Piqued my interest in the toys now so hoping to pick some up cheap.

I just sat down and watched Solo, pretty good all up. Light years ahead of JJ's efforts.

Absolutely, but not horrifying either. Solo was pretty good, Rouge one was brilliant.
