i didnt realise the palitoy action force was ever advertised on tv but there is a video of it on there, also some hasbro action force adverts. incidentally a consultant who has just started working at our firm used to work for palitoy. i hoped he might have some interesting knowledge about action force but i just ended up making an idiot of myself when i mentioned i was a fan / collector

ive met a few people now who have worked there, salesmen commercial planners etc. and none have any real memories of it. i find that incredible but i suppose to them it was just a job, they werent fans. either way its still frustrating and i want good stories!

I think the toy industry has changed a lot too, I think now you have lots of fans working on stuff and in 20 years they will be happy to tell lots of stories
back then it was more of a job and there wasnt many fans working on the stuff
Just a theory, mind you

Fans working in the toy industry? Hello? You think the Chinese kids constructing toys will have 'cool' stories in 20 years time? No, it is just work for them. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing has changed.

i think there is a lot more aareness from people in the industry that toys now have a wider impact both now and in the future. i used to manage a toy shop and in meetings with other managers in the chain and at toy shows the big thing at the time, esp from lego and hasbro was that they would add / document things for collectors. 20 years ago palitoy / other manufacturers wouldnt have had q&a sessions with older collectors, who were around at the time.

The industry is not in the game for charity. Q&A sessions, 'special' meetings, shows and/or special edition collectibles, bottom line they are intended to produce extra sales.

of course, i didnt need that pointing out. hasbro being in it for the money when they have q&a sessions etc only interests me while they get none of my money in return. that was my point, they are looking to earn revenue outside the traditional stream but it can only help spread information about the whole product / process and of course extra sales to fans. both sides may gain.
people can take out of it what they will, special editions, the information or both, but at least the information and company is there and documented which is something that cant be said about palitoy.
