Toltoys Action Force revelation

Post by Chopper »

I was perusing my Action Man (3 3/4") paraphernalia when I discovered something pretty obvious that I'd never noticed before. On the back of my Polar Battle Bear it says;

The ACTION FORCE MOBILE STRIKE FORCE SKIMOBILE.
Based on the U.S. Army's top secret weapons systems. It's part of the new modern Army ACTION FORCE collection of vehicles, weapons, and figures. Collect them all. Use it to help ACTION FORCE protect democracy from the evil enemy army of COBRA Command.

That's verbatim. Exactly the same blurb as the UK release. Now it got me thinking, what AF/AM was released in the Australasian region? Based on that and little bit of google, I got this list together. I think the dates are right but they might have been a year later. This was all we got till 1986 when G.I. Joe stocked the shelves. All except Tiger Force, the UK Action Force Tiger Force figures were also sold down under, as Action Force. I know this because I saw them in the shops and said "pffft, this sh*t ain't Action Force" to myself. I remember it quite clearly.

The other differences were in the blueprints and sticker sheets. They all had the G.I. Joe logo's and logo stickers removed. No reference was left except for the one reference on the Cobra Officers file card.

Wave 1 1983

VAMP - Clutch
FLAK
MMS - Hawk
RAM
HAL - Grand Slam
JUMP

Wave 2 1984

Cobra FANG
Skimobile
MANTA mail away

Figures

Snake eyes
Scarlett
Stalker
Rock'n roll
Zap
Short Fuse
Grunt
Flash
Breaker

Cobra Officer
Cobra Trooper
Hooded Cobra Commander - Mail away

So, in summary, Toltoys Action Man figures were marketed as ACTION FORCE.
Let me tell you, Gunner La-De-Dah Graham, the British Army can fight anything! Intimate or not!
