G'day all!
I've had a rather strange relationship with Action Force; back in the 80s, a passing relative gave me the 85 and 86(?) Action Force Annuals. I recongised the characters from the 86 one as being some of the GI Joe characters (Cobra Commander, Destro, Duke, Scarlett etc) but had no idea who Baron Ironblood, Black Major and so on were meant to be. The result was some mild curiosity, as well as an interest in these other strange stories that were attached to the book.
Time passed, and the old Action Force annuals dissapeared into old, musty bookshelves, mostly forgotten. However, in mid-2001, I was working on something, and felt a need to make a joke about Cobra Commander, and his secret identity. Remembering some vague recollections of my youth, I dropped in a line about "But all they found instead was Baron Ironblood", a small nod of the head. It was only after the fact that I decided to look up this character and realised the double value of my joke. At the time, I had no idea that in the UK, Ironblood and Cobra Commander were one and the same!
Since then, I've had something of a strange interest in Action Force; it was my introduction to GI Joe, albiet one that I had largely negelcted and overlooked since then. In the last few months, evnts have rekindled that interest, and lead me to embrace the wonderful crazy that is Action Force. The Roboskull, Muton, Kraken and the sheer madness that is Skeletron, all of which are so wonderfully charming in their awesome, eighties sci-fi way. I've also developed an interest in Battle itself, as well as its various stories. Naturally, this lead me here
And boy, am I gald to be here!
