ACTION FORCE ANYONE???
According to
this Variety article Stephen Sommers has indeed been inked as the Director for the upcoming live action G.I. Joe film.
Some plot details have been revealed as well:
Variety wrote:While some remember the character from its gung-ho fighting man '60s incarnation, he's evolved. G.I. Joe is now a Brussels-based outfit that stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil organization headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer. The property is closer in tone to "X-Men" and James Bond than a war film.
Time will tell...

the acronym is quite cool
but my heart sinks every time I hear talk of a movie... the likliehood of it being any good? Well to date there hasn't been a comic book adaptation that I've really liked or really wanted to see..
batman films ~ so so apart from Batman and robin which was pants
x-men ~ ok, last one worst of the 3
spiderman ~ again so so (not seen the last one)
V for vendetta ~ not seen
transformers ~ not seen
After the trauma of seeing GI Joe the movie back in 87 (or whenever it was) I dread to think what they'll come up with this time...

The movie is good news overall..........anything that could potentially keep the GI Joe 3.75" line going is good in my opinion - and it is especially exciting if it is starts up the Action Force again.
Hopefully the movie will be at least as good as the TF movie.
The international spin on things is a good move considering how the world currently percieves the US. They are most likely doing this to get international sales.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with - will they take from the international versions of GI Joe like Action Force?
I am sure that the movie toys will be made for us collector and for kids just like the TF toys. They could have both 3.75" and 8" versions to fit with the existing Joe lines.
So, when do you think the long lists of who we would like to see acting in the movie will start?
We shall just have to wait and see............

Good one.
Jeremy Irons would also be a great Ironblood. Alan Rickman as the Black Major. He plays awesome bad guys.
