'Just Jane'

Hi folks,
I paid another visit to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre today, & thought you guys may be interested in seeing a few pics... I think I posted some pictures upon my last visit (a couple of years back) so apologies if they're a bit 'samey'.

The museum, an old W.W.II bomber station, is home to the Lancaster bomber 'Just Jane' & holds events throughout the year. Despite not being airworthy (the museum's aim is to restore her to flight) Jane is in superb condition & performs regular taxi runs.
Jane pays her way by taking fare paying passengers for taxi runs.. if you can afford it, £250 will buy you a ticket & there's currently a year long waiting list.

The museum had set up the gantry for viewing the cockpit, you don't realise just how far off the ground, or how small inside, it is:

The airfield is also home to this Dakota, presently undergoing her post winter storage overhaul, another W.W.II vet' which took part in the D-Day invasions &, unlike 'Jane', she's fully airworthy appearing @ many historic air shows & movies aswell:

Another of todays main attractions was this M36 Jackson tank destroyer:

Fully functional, with a live firing gun, & fully crewed with re-enactors in authentic period uniform,

There were many other W.W.II period vehicles on display & many folks turned up in the appropriate attire for the occasion:

Thanks for looking

I forgot to mention that a Ford Capri owners club event was also taking part in the days events, loads of better than show room condition classics on show.

I really do need to put some pics up from the last 3 air shows for you, Ed. Right up your alley.
