Ok I know there's the list of battle issues in the sticky thread above but when was the first Battle Action Force - I'm trying to work out what issues I'm missing- I've got about 58% of the issues from august '84 to the last BAF. I can be accurate with the pecentage because I've listed them in a spreadsheet! The wife thinks this highly amusing! Anyway the condition of them is pretty shocking - I cut some of them up to make my own comics out of them - (it made sense when I was 10!) I now I'm trying to put things right.

Also can anybody help out with the GI Joe stuff: after BAF finished I perserved with the Storm Force thing for a while but eventually gave up on Battle and switched to the Marvel Action Force comic: I've still got about 95% of the weekly issues and all the monthly issues. I've always wondered how thing panned out later on - I just never got the whole transformers thing so never bothered with the transformers comic that continued to run the GI Joe/AF story- I switched to 2000AD about that point...

I digress again, anyone know anywhere that is easy to naviagate that will let me work out how to fill in the gaps - there was whole story with some kid called billy involving crimson guards and stuff always wondered how it worked out. From reading the interview with Larry Hama on the Yo Joe site I gather the story never got finished because GI Joe was killed in the early 90's but how much did I miss? What is the correlation between the GI Joe issues and the marvel Action force issues - did each AF cover the same story as each GI Joe?

The whole post marvel thing intrigues me as well. Prompted by the Devils Due talk on here I've had look on wiki to get some of the background so i know they are publishing GI Joe stuff but I haven't got a clue where to start with it - there must be 6 year of devils due stuff that I've only just found out about. I really liked the Larry Hama stuff in the marvel so how does it compare? How realistic is it? I mean I remember Action Force/GI Joe the movie completely depressing me- (the whole cobra-la thing was so very very wrong IMO - we all know he's Ironblood!) has all that stuff died a death?

Ok enough rambling - any help much appreciated :chopper:

its GI JOE grown up!! DDP comics are some of the best stuff written, very mature .

I think I would start with the RED SHADOW TRADE PAPER BACK as it features the RED SHADOWS!! ( of Course ) -- its Rise of the Red Shadows and thier is a major major JOE DEATH , then I would suggest jumping to Americas Elite issue 19 and moving forward especially issue #25 !

then I would go back and collect AE 1-19, then Master and Apprentice 1 then SNAKE EYES DECLASSiFIED then GI JOE DECLASSIFIED ( by Larry Hama ) and then SCARLET DECLASSIFIED, then GI JOE FRONT LINE TPB #1 The mission that never was ( by Larry Hama Again ) and then the older individual DDP stuff.

Enjoy!

thanks Jamar.

found this date for the first battle action force from a google search - 8th October 1983 - can anyone confirm this?

also been flicking through my old marvel weekly's and was reminded that Billy was cobra comander's son! In the marvel action force #32 the story "Judgements" was the first hint at how the Joe Cobra was formed - I'd completely forgotten about this as well... cue hours of comic book reading!

The best thing to do would be buying volumes 1-5 of the Marvel tpbs as they cover 1-50 of GI Joe as they should have been and go on MileHighcomics site and E-Bay for back issues as Marvel Uk edited stories and featured Special Missions as well I found a few pages had been missed out altogether from stories so they didn't include relationships between Flint and Lady Jaye amongst others they also didn't print the stories in a proper order as you would find if you buy the above trades.

Thanks Ironblood ;)

Found GI Joe TPB Vol 1 on forbidden planet for £11.21 eek! - this could prove expensive - found some of the devils due paperbacks on Amazon @ £10 plus pakaging each- blimey my old marvel AF's where 32p each!!! It's going to take me some time to catch up on the story lines...

I already feel like I've arrived late at a party after trawling through some of the posts on these boards - it's like every question I think of has been asked by someone else back in 2005!

Now,should I dare find out how much original GI Joe issues are selling for?!

Trust me it's worth it as I said try milehighcomics for backissues then compare it to the AF issues by Marvel Uk you will notice the difference.

A-ha ! I'm slowly getting my head around where everything is on this site... found the comic covers section:

http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/Blood/Covers.html

So the first baf was indeed 8th october '83 but the mini comics came first starting with battle 4th June 1983.
