Just got an email from an auction house in Brum, they're auctioning off the original acrylic paintings for the 1970s Action Man boxes on Friday :o

Estimate is £600 - £800.
Anyone fancy clubbing together to buy it?

This is really cool stuff! I visit (art) auctions on a regular basis. For that type of work 30-40 quid/each is a steal. Really a pity this auction is in the UK. I would have loved to visit to bring out a few bids.

You could give the online bidding ago, not the same as the real thing though.

That's stunning. I've been trying to find a good Commando or Battle type Stormtrooper pic for ages. Bloody little ripper.

The auction house has on line bidding / telephone bidding.

Yep, like I said if anyone wants to club together to buy the lot let me know. PM me with your chosen artwork(s) and how much you're prepared to pay. There's 20 paintings and if they go for the top of the estimate that's £40 each. There's bound to be some auction house fees on top too and postage as well so bear that in mind.

Clubbing together is a cool concept, but online it just don't work. Over the last 20 years I tried that so many times. In the end it is always the same story: people don't pay in time, everybody wants the same item, people don't agree on maximum amounts, etc. The one arranging things is stuck with stuff he doesn't want plus a bill that isn't fully covered. My tip would be: buy the entire lot, keep what you want and sell the ones you don't like at 150%. People that start complaining about price, you took the risk, not they. So that's a fair percentage.
Life's easy!
Looking into the matter now.

I've put an opening bid in but the more of us who contribute means the higher I can bid for us.
