Blood for the Baron!

I've decided to thin down my collection.
Been sorting through boxes of toys for the last couple of days and realise I have far too much to display everything.
My plan was to rotate collections every couple of months but I know that won't happen.
I've already decided to sell of most of my comic collection and have decided to part with my McFarlane movie maniacs/matrix stuff as well as my clone wars figs and vehicles. Gonna keep my af, vintage star wars and my modern gi joes but this is where I'm stuck.. Should I sell my vintage gi joes? I have most cobra figures but they have sat in a box for years and I can't remember the last time I bought a vintage gi joe.
I know I'll regret it but could really use the money. Forgot I'm keeping my animated Batman and jlu figs too.
Any advice appreciated.

Same drama here, toys cover half the man cave floor. Personally I'd sell the modern stuff and keep the older figures. In a few decades it'll be worth more and its cooler. I stuck to series 1 to 3 because that was my childhood, but also worked on Toltoys era kit. Also because I knew it'd cause me grief to display. In saying that most of what I have on the floor is post Series 3 figures and vehicles.

You've got that age old dilemma Bill!! Too much stuff for the space!! My advice would be focus on the core of your collection. What means most to you. Forget about values, forget about what others might prefer - it's your collection. Not collected for a value, or profit - it's what means most to you that should be in your collection!

I sold on my old Joes, as I realised they had no nostalgia for me - I'd collected them as I was bored!!

My childhood was red shads, cobra and he man.
But nostalgia don't pay the rent.
I'm only collecting af, modern cobra and justice league unlimited.
My vintage cobra are probably the most valuable which is why I'm thinking of shifting them. I have modern versions of most of my originals and it's modern figs I'm into at the moment.
I finally got the leak in my den fixed but the damage caused nearly forced me to give up altogether. It's not even the damage the water caused but the damp has got into everything. Thanks God I moved my comics or is have lost the lot. Over 20 long boxes. Caused massive rows when I moved them to the bedroom but Mrs Tap relented when I told her I was gonna sell them. I keep telling myself there's no point keeping anything I can't display but they've been a major part of my life for so long. Balls that sounds sad. Is this me growing up? If so I don't like it.

Nightmare dilemma!
As Mr D says, keep what matters most to you. Your collection, your rules. I only collect Series 1, 2 and 3 & because that was my childhood. Comics are Battle, BAF and 2000ad for the same reason.

Also, my only advice would be to add that don't get bullied into getting rid of anything you don't want to. That you will regret. Even if it is just kept in a box at the back of the loft, unmarked and forgotten about. You will sleep better knowing its there - I'm talking about childhood stuff here. I lost a lot that I am now regretting, so I speak from experience!

And don't worry about growing up... It's only temporary.

Nothing I can really add to the above sentiments or sage advice.

If it's possible for you, if you haven't done so already, just take your time in making the decision & be certain in your own mind that your parting with the right items for the right reasons.

If times are desperate always remember that staying healthy, keeping a roof over your head & putting food on the family table are the most important priorities.
