Black Major variant?

I was cleaning up the toy lounge this morning and rediscovered my second Black Major. I picked up my first Maj, to compare the logo quality, and noticed they are different:
One's logo is slightly larger and offset.
At first I thought it was just an error, but the figures have different skin tones, too:
Finally, (fuzzy pic, sorry) The foot holes are different. One has perfectly smooth round holes, while the other has a slight O recess and hexagon shaped holes:
Has anybody else noticed anything similar with any other figs?

And there is also a discussion about a Red Shadow variant somewhere on this board. Couldn't find it so quickly.

Pretty much no two are alike! I think each factory had slightly different moulds/printing.

The one on the left was the first version. The one on the right appeared in the last days of

reality.
Where the fk are our Palitoy historians when we need them?
Meantime, gotta find the Shad variant for enemy-recognition Shad-slotting purposes.

The 2nd gen. Shad looked like a total dufus as I recall, he was rubberier (if that is a word), slightly paler and his print was always slightly off, so that instead of evil eyeslits he had this downs syndrome clown make-up thing going on. As I recall the right hand was angled at the knuckles for better grip and the boots had thicker soles. When I'm next reunited with my toys I'll root through for him and expose him as the pretender that he is.

Cool, am curious to see this abomination in its plastic-flesh!
