What was your first AF/Gi joe figure?

Post by wolforrest »

If I remember rightly I recall buying my first AF figure when I was around 6yrs old in a toy shop called Phillips in Dartford and it was a :origsas: and a :hawkwind: then when Arah arrived I purchased my first figure which was :snakes2:

I wish I still had all my stuff from my child hood, it would be worth £000's now and sentimentally priceless. I am pretty sure it was all given away to one of my younger snotty cousins.

In 2006 I purchased my first Arah figure as an adult collector :bbq: and never turned back, I purchased a few AF peices along the way and then met you bunch, now I have a very bad habit.

Damn the lot of you and thank you lol :)

Mine was the Mountain and Arctic, and I still have it to this day! I still remember the dilemma when his leg snapped - did I get Dad to glue it in a seated position, to allow him to drive the snowmobile, or standing, to ski. I went with seated, and still, to this day, feel it was the right decision.

Next after that was Space Pilot (moondancer version - orange boots!) who I accidentally sent to Chopper a year or so back. He's now back though, and firmly in charge of my Space army!

At least he got a nice holiday out of it.

First Palitoy figure was the Z Captain from Krakers which was a bargain shop. Cant remember Krakens being in Krakers though... Pestered my mum to death for him and I carried him around constantly for days after that. Think the next was Eagle and Boat Patrol and then maybe one a week after that with my 50p pocket money.

First Hasbro AF figure was Airtight, I was amazed that Action Force was back and was so different than before. Pretty sure it was from a WH Smith around Liverpool as I was staying with my Auntie at the time.

My first AF figure I actually bought was the Helicopter Pilot in green overalls but my Uncle got me a Red Shadow which began my AF collection and then my first GI Joe was Destro.
Spock, where the hell's the power you promised?

Dolphin and phones free with the comic.
Not sure which was my first arah fig but I had most of the initial cobra figs.
First modern fig was 25th commando snake eyes and I was hooked.
Was initially put off with the new articulation but once I had the fig in hand that was it.
Goddamned plastic crack.

I was really into Star Wars, with only a couple of exceptions, not many other brands of action figures made it into my collection in those days.

:eagle2: was one of those exceptions, the other Starbuck (from Battlestar Galactica).
More news, as its made, from new Action Force!

:2para: was my first figure which I still have now. I bought him when my Dad took me to a toy shop in Oban whilst we were there staying in my Aunties guesthouse in 1981.

:marine: and :german: were my first, bought together I think, probably from either Lorimers or Gamleys in Orpington, Kent. Then I remember :uspara: , bought on holiday in Plymouth. I have all three to this day, including their original accessories (amazing those stick grenades survived all that time).

I remember getting things like Satellite Defence, Triad Fighter, Roboskull and Sealion for birthday presents. The Hyena I bought one summer at the start of the holidays - I can only assume I was given some money as a treat. I can vividly remember the sunny day I bought it and the excitement of the interesting looking tank. And I can still remember waiting for my mail away Kraken to arrive for what seemed like the whole summer.

A lot of my other series 1, including the HQ, which I also still have, came from Orpington indoor market, which had a second hand toy stall. I don;t really recall going to it, but my mum dead and she had a keen eye for what I was into! Later, when we moved to the Midlands, I sold some of my Action Force (including Roboskull and Hyena) and some of my Star Wars toys (including Jabba and Darth Vader's TIE Fighter) to the same stall! Still a regret to this day.
