Hi all,

A lot of you have some really outstanding collections with both loose and moc/misb items but how have you handled that in terms of household insurance? We are soon going to get an insurance brooker by to check the new solar panels on our house and give us an updated price on the house insurance but I have thought about signing a separate "collection"-insurance, if they even have that :eyebrow:. However as most of you know my collection is not exactly the smallest around and I could use some help on appraising it all, access to spreadsheet with information (state of item, amount etc) can be provided to those who want to help me out here :) Most of it is already pictured on my website but some are not and others I have army builded like 4 complete MCC´s, 5 Skystrikers and 5-6 Hydro Foils :D

We have house insurance and the collection is insured within that for a fair sum.

I also looked into specific insurance! Really expensive, I don't know if there's any companies that offer some kind of collectable insurance but I worked out it was cheaper to rent a storage unit and keep it in there under their insurance! @ gung-hoeddie, what did your insurance co. ask for proof of value?

Most Household policies will cover a collection so long as you are able to give them a list and most don't worry about price so long as individual items don't exceed £2k typically. Specialist insurance is a nightmare though.

Yeah, you should be able to add it to household, depends on the company, and as long as the Roboskull doesn't reach its true market price of 10k (after someone buys loads and starts destroying them :waiting: to increase the value of the remaining meisterwerks)

If we all want to sate the filth of our inner capitalist, we could all club together and get a syndicate at Lloyds to create specialist :aforce: insurance (marketed in North America as Joe-Secure, and the source of most of the annual payments into the specialist insurance vehicle ) and the also share the profits accruing from a surfeit of insured plastic. Until someone starts torching their collections of course.

:quick:

Man I must go to the wrong insurance companies! I don't mind mentioning I was with direct line, now Santander and both didn't really want to touch it. I wanted £10K max insurance on the collection and they both gave me a figure which pretty much quadrupled my premium :dizzy:

4x? Jeez my stuff is insured in my vehicle for 20k for transit to and from shows and that was only 40 quid extra and something is much more likely to happen to it there
