Codebreaker

Hi all,

I had forgotten all about Action Force until recently a friend turned up and started talking about these comics he had been collecting. This started a whole heap of reminiscing and then a long time searching the basement and other places for the old comics, figures etc..

Looking back in some of the posts, it seems someone had a scan of a codebreaker - would it be possible to either post a scan of it on this site (or a link to it) or to email me a copy - I have tried to decipher a number of the codes in the comics but there are a number of things I find a little difficult (such as numbers).

Sorry for the longer post as a first post.

Pete

BTW - I think my codename was Sparrowhawk when I was a member way back in the 80's.

Hi Pete,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, we've been having a nightmare with the site this year.

The codebook came with the Black Major figure, his profile is here: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/afonlin ... major.html

The codebook itself is here:

However the translated codes are just as nonsensical I'm afraid.

Hey, thanks for that - this will make it fun to go through some of these and have a play...

However, has anyone got the codebook for the other side? Such as the one found here:

Hope everyone had a cool Xmas.

Cheers,

Pete.

So I got my Shadowtrak yesterday and looked through the codebook that came with Black Major just to see what sort of nonsense the stickers on the Shadowtrak said. Unfortunately it seems that all except for two of the "code Letters" on the Shadowtrak aren't even in the book! So is there another book with these characters in it or do we just have to make up our own?

Well I tried the latter and came up with this:

For the Shadowtrak there are 3 stickers (on the Hood, on the side missiles, the last one is near the driver's seat and on the tow hook)
With my odd ball translations I have:

My first attempt didn't quite work out :D

Hood: GK-Agile
Missiles: Danger
Tow Hook: Agnr_ (I never came up with what the last character would be)

Then I came up with:

Tow-hook: Latch

Hood: GK-Laser (I figure Ground Kommand Laser) (GK translation taken from the other thread)

Missiles: BLNATC (Used as an acronym)
Backbone
Link
Node
Auto
Tracking
Carbine

So given that I tried to see if I could come up with ones for the other vehicles, I got one and stopped :)

Laser Exterminator:
On the bumper that the tow arms connect to I wound up with:

ANECL which apparently is an actual Acronym for:
Advanced
Nuclear
Engineering
Computing
Laboratory

I did this when I was a kid and there were complete if somewhat garbled or rather nonsensical "translations" for all the Shad kit insignia and panel decals available via the codebook, inc. some of the bigger instrument kit displays if I remember correctly (Roboskull, Hyena, maybe Lazer Exterminator).

Anyway, all of it is soundly reproduced cyrillic

Proletarian robotniks iz Koal-Veell fabreek, we salute you.

:quick:

PS. Flew over the massed oil tankers berthed outside Singapore last night, waiting for the Molucca Straights. Just had to think of Lazer sneaking out to another hub :D after his fabled encounter with :qforce: and Singaporean Defence Forces (whose deportment in general has not changed much since those events 85 but whose banter at passport control needs some more working on beyond "you were more handsome then"*, though doubtless that was the very thing :laser: exploited anyway with his nifty business legend and associated aliases. )

*must be said, not back in 85, but the roaring 90s, not that much later admittedly.

Look on the bright side, he may have told you that you're more handsome now.

Baron, obviously you are the Baron for the reason.

I think you need to write an HR manual: "Managing the Black Major (and Lazer Shadoko-San - For Kids"!*

:quick:

*The American Version will obviously be for kids in Springfield and immediate environs
