WHo here reads the GI JOE COMIC ? and who here doesnt read the comics

I am wondering for the ones that dont if the DD Comics would have featured a more/better connection with the old Red Shadows would you have started reading the comics?

I am just wondering because I just want to know if trying to tie it in would have brought some fans into the comic

Yeah, have been reading the DD comics, but more out of habit than anything else.

If they were to integrate old Shadows more would definately make me read more regular.

I'm reading the old Marvel US at the minute, haven't got up to DD yet. I was fairly unimpressed with the first Transformers crossover (not the Jae Lee Dreamwave, that was superb!).

I read the comics, but I live in the States so its relatively easy for me to get them, I collected the original Marvel Run though I don't have probably the last 20 issues of it. I really like the Special Missions stories, most of them are stand alones and can be picked up relatively cheap. I am working on my AF and BAF collections currently. Love Baron Ironblood and the Shads.
I also get the DD run of GIJoe and enjoy it, I don't and nevr have gotten any of the transformer crossovers.

Must admit I have read & do still have a fair few Marvel (US & UK ones) as well as some of the DD one`s too.

I have noticed that we in the UK actually got censored on some of the Marvel stories when Re-released by UK Marvel. One that sticks in my mind is the Special Mission one with the Terrorists taking over the Russian passenger plane & Flint,LJ & Beachhead sent aboard. It`s when the airstewardess is Murdered at the airport on the plane in the door way.

That sticks in my mind NOT only due to the censor difference BUT I thought that Story TRUELY did capture what the Joe`s were about & most certainly added that realm of Realism to them.

Alas NOT all Joe stories have been so interesting. One of the Biggest Pet hates about the Joe comics is this reliance on NINJA saga or suddenly everyone who do the slightest Martial Arts is SUDDENLY a Ninja or adopted Ninja.

To me that TRUELY Killed the Joes :(

For Instance Firefly (Those who know me know I hate this). We in the UK were introduced to Firefly as a Sabotouer/Espinage/Explosives/Intelligence/Armed & Unarmed Combat EXPERT.
After all he went up against Capt Buckingham & an SAS troop & actually held his own.

He`s former European Special Forces But to which Nation NO ONE knows.
Yet with the Joes they turned him also into a NINJA. That was annoying to see.

I do understand the Storm Shadow/Snake Eyes relivence to the Ninja saga & have no probs with either their.

Its this reliance on almost everyone else being Ninja or semi Ninja that truely bugs me. That puts me off the Joe comics.

I really like the Red Shadow arc and while they werent the old SHadow that I wanted to really see It was good to still see them return

I wished they would just call Vaugh Baron Iron Blood and bring in someone to be named the Black Major or at least make dela eden the Black Major . I thought it would have been cool that if DDP had made her the daughter of the original Black Major and took his name

I am still hoping to see them return in the book
