When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

No, they were probably traced to look exactly like the BAF stuff by the artist, so it would be a nice nod and wink to the old series. So the art in the frames was most likely all new pencils and inks and it was intended to be a homage. ;-)
Oh, they're definitely taken from BFTB. You can make out my scanner shadow over Ironblood's right shoulder!
