sundance thats a difficult situation to be in mate it is, speaking from the point of view of someone who looked after his dad for the last few months of his life untill his sad death (he was young and i was still a teen,) please remember you still have to live your own life, i'm not saying that looking after your mum is wrong but you don't want your life to be over before you've done anything with it life's to short for that.Sundance wrote:well, my parents' health issues are a big part of why i haven't moved out, besides fiscal ones. my mum had epilepsy and then was suffering other seizures and we then found out it was a brain tumour. dad's diabetic, arthritic and fat and useless. so muggins here does much of the running around or helps mum doing stuff.

He is in his mid 60's we are doing ok thanks. My dad should have gone to physio a lot longer his way of coping seems to be thinking he didn't have a stroke he doesn't realise by doing that he could have a third one. I hope you and your mum are coping ok Thundershot?Thundershot wrote:It's hard, part of me know's he'll never by the same again but like I said. it could of been a hell of a lot worse..if you don't mind me asking, how olds your father now & are you & your mum copeng with it?

Re: Toy couples
my dad is also overweight and diabetic and has a massive drink problem.
hes had 3 heart attacks which i thought might have wised him up but hes worse than ever.
i really think he has a death wish. thought when the kids came along he'd change but i think he loves the drink more than anyone or anything.
i left home when i was 15 and never looked back. gotta say i was pretty lucky, after a few rough years i met a cool girl who i'm still with, have 2 cool kids, a great house and a job i enjoy. money has been really tight the last couple of years but i never forget just how lucky i am

I didn't mean my dad had a drinking problem just that he would go for a few pints then maybe have a bottle of wine or whiskey later with my mum and do that several nights his stroke was more to do with his heart.
