I've never been to New Jersey but I feel like I know it thru the films of Kevin Smith, of course it's probabley nothing like that in real life.

Once I discovered Action Force was GI Joe in the US (and it took me til I was an adult to realise) I always thought it was wierd that all the Joes came from the US, although I suppose many Joes are 1st or 2nd generation of immigrants from Europe and elsewhere.

I still have a hard time imagining Recondo as anything but an Aussie, but then I guess you have the same problem in reverse.

man that thing is so cool! the talent that went into that thing is outstanding. everyone really did a super job! i showed my dad, he's not into such things but knows i am. he flipped through it and was very impressed all that came from some b&w pix.
now i only wish i had the time to sit and read it. things are getting kinda crazy with time running out before i leave <military reserve duty for 7 months> not to mention i have a killer head cold thats keeping me held up in bed sleeping alot, but once i get healed up and settled in i plan on reading the heck out of this book. not to familiar with the UK joe story but flipping through this thing a few times it looks very interesting!

Okay, here is a taster of some artwork featuring everyone's favourite bad guys:

If you can point me in the right direction, I can post a few more versions from various artists in the right section of the forum for all to enjoy - they mostly feature a Red Shadow, with one or two versions of a certain masked man possibly related to the Kassell family. :baron:

Cheers again and looking forward to getting to know more of you soon.

I just received my BEST OF ACTION FORCE book in the post and while I may be a bit late to the party... I'm impressed! I will in fact say this could be the most important book I've ever bought. Let me explain that, but be warned it's 'sappy', so anybody offended by such things: Stop reading..... NOW!!;)

ACTION FORCE played a pretty big part in my childhood, and I mean 'proper', pre-Marvel, pre-Hasbro ACTION FORCE back when we had the original figures. My family wasn't exactly "well off", so summer holidays for us involved two weeks of day trips out to Wales in the family car. Without fail I always piled my shoe-box full of AF figures, along with a carton of the old IPC comics, into the back seats and we were off. I mean, I could never choose which ones I wanted to take so I took everything!
This, I must confess, was the happiest time of my life. Things seemed just 'right', the world was a simpler & safer place and it's a period that I often relive in my mind. Of course time marches on. Mum died of cancer (only 54) in 2000 and my Dad had a stroke which left him disabled and me looking after him, and such times tended to get forgotten.

Then, I got this book in the post and as soon as I opened it I was back there in that car. It was amazing really, as I didn't remember a single story until I saw them in the book, then it all came flooding back. Virtually every panel of CODENAME: TRACKER (for example) was there in my head when I re-read it. Amazing how the human brain retains everything... SCHOOL FOR SNAKES? Don't remember that one... Oh wait, now I do!!!

Anyway, I can't say too much in case people start thinking I'm weird (too late!). Basically I say the biggest THANK YOU possible to everyone resonsible for this tome and say that it's appreciated more than you might realise.

My only criticism of the book is based purely on personal preference. I'd rather have seen the earlier RED SHADOW stories, from the beginning and in order, presented first. But, as there's no real continuity to these strips it isn't a big issue. Like I say, 'personal preference', and with future volumes promised I'm sure my own 'favourite strips' will turn up. I can't fault anything else here - This labour of love deserves a wider audience and I hope that one day it finds it. I actually intend to buy a second, softcover version to keep my hardback in good nick.

Please... volume 2 ASAP!!!!
