Also all these Vipers that are in the figure range don't seem to be in the film either that or Max Allan Collins is crap at writing.

Even though I guess the movie will be good, it's still a shame that

won't appear. He's the only one of those who I consider the 6 main

charas who will be absent.

to sell toys. like why the f*cking hell does every Batman movie spawn sixty different Batman figures with stupid ass gimmicks that are never even seen in the movie? to sell toys.
why did Transformers spawn Transformer toys of the MV-22 Osprey, the S7 jeep and SUV, an S7 never in the movie, the tow-truck Mikaela steals, a Thundercracker redeco of Starscream, a red redeco of Bumblebee as Cliffjumper as well as other characters like Wreckage, Arcee and so on that weren't in it? to sell toys.
likewise there's loads of Joes in the toys that AFAIK aren't in the movie.
hey, maybe if Stephen Sommers follows Bay's example Firefly, Scrap Iron, the Dreadnoks, Tomax and Xamot will appear in GI Joe 2, along with Flint, Lady Jaye, Jinx, Footloose and Bazooka and they'll get about 2 seconds of screen time, one line and then appear in massive gun-battle that leaves most of the Cobras dead, but at least you'll get to see them, however briefly.

i guess "to sell toys" is the answer to why the f*ck did they bother making transformers, wolverine origins & now (possibly) g.i. joe?

well, it's certainly why Hasbro sold the rights to Transformers and GI Joe.
as for XMO:W, no. that was Marvel selling the rights to Fox in order to make money and Fox making a movie to make money.
in that instance, selling toys is a side thing to the main money-spinner.

Lt Stone in the novel has a few lines no action and Lifeline has a bit of time. What gets me is Brendan Fraser is/was Gung-Ho in the film as far as I know but he's not in the book of the film but is in Above & Beyond (prequel novel) which only has a 4 year gap between it and the movie.

I've read in the Joe wiki that Brendan Frasier's chara will be named Sgt Thunderblast. As far as I know, Gung-Ho will appear in the videogame with a costume reminiscent to his Devil's Due attires.
And about the selling toys thing, even since ARAH there have been toy-released charas who haven't had any fictional appearance. Transformers show it more frequently, but it's nothing new.
