Woa, that's a pretty rough landing. I've been in an RNZAF Iroquois, that was a hell of a lot of fun. Wasn't supposed to be there either.

Had to use helicopters to visit our remote sites in the Falklands. One of the sites we visited we had to land on a cliff face. I put my name on the list for a Chinook jolly but my name came up on the day I was flying out! I had a good flight on a Herc though.

Had a ride on a Puma in germany, on a cadet camp.
All good fun until they started practising engine failures .
Nearly had a ride on the Herc, taxied out, found a fuel leak and taxied back.
Little dissapointed that day

I was standing looking out of the observation bubble on top behind the cockpit when a Tornado F3 came up from below and streaked across the front of us. I could hear the pilot saying "f*ck ME THEY BOUNCED US THATS GOING TO COST ME A SLAB!" (slab of beer). I also sat on the tailgate while it was open, flying over Port Stanley at about 500ft up and did some despatching out of the back.

Reminds me of the time when I was on a gliding course and the Hercs were doing practice drops on the airfield.
There was a car driving down the runway during the exercise , didn`t see the red stop light and was a figure of mirth for all watching.
Then I recognized the car and it was my dad coming to pick me up, not a proud moment in my life

A memorable one tho, Scoob I have also managed a ride in a RNZA APC, man those things can hike. Also got to use SLR's at a range at Waiouru army base too, great rifles those. If I ever move back to NZ I'll be buying one.

On the old trout hatchery my Dad was managing, he gave me a call one morning to come down for a look in the car park. Mate of his was a Major in the Armoured Corps and there were 5 shiny new Scorpions sitting there. That was real cool for a 12 year old Battle reader Being near Ohakea AFB we got heaps of planes doing REAL low level stuff. Skyhawks, Strikemasters and once a RAAF F-4. I could look out over the valley and have the pilots look back at me, treetop height.

I'll have to try harder for a C-130 tho, Humby. BTW, isn't a slab a universal thing? 24 beers, as opposed to a brick which is 30.

I got airlifted to hospital in a helicopter a good few years back, don't remember much though as they'd pumped me full of morphine. I do remember being rather thrilled that I had to be posted in through a little hatch under the tail of the copter.

I was'nt sure Chopper as in the past I have had to explain to people what a slab is. I got slabbed myself for being on the BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) tv news programme twice.
