Can I get one and throw it out of the top floor window of my house, just to see if it flies? Perhaps with a few Para Drop Flints in just to se if their chutes deploy???

If you have a little more time, go one step further and try and do what the USAF failed to do (on a tight schedule in 1980). You can even use the same codename for the operation.



The crew were ok as I remember.

I was lucky enough whilst serving it the Falklands to have a flight in a Herc. We did a patrol to keep an eye on the Argies, got bounced by a Torndado ADV and then a I had go at despatching out of the rear ramp. Wonderful feeling siting on the rear ramp with my legs daggling a few hundred feet or so over Stanley and MPA.

One of the finest aircraft ever built. NZ has been operating the same air frames since Vietnam. They have been used extensively and are going through an upgrade/refurb atm. Some aircraft never need to be replaced, except with the same aircraft, the Herc is one of them.
