Chop, not sure what problem you're trying to resolve? My graphics card has four outputs - I have the HDMI port feeding the TV, with the DVI and 2x mini-display ports feeding my three monitors by use of adapters. And an optical lead from the sound card to the amp. The mobo has an onboard optical sound port, but the Xonar kicks the crap out of it for balls and chunk.
If your monitors are DVI capable you'll get a much better picture than VGA. Sa'll. There should be no difference in your audio as the digital stream is processed by your amp, not the card. It just shunts it through. The only time that can vary is if your card is utilising to much CPU time, even the onboard ones are PCI-e and very low latency nowadays.

I'd agree with LJ, setting up widgets can be fun and the PC's mostly sit in the nerd room. ;-)

My monitors are VGA though, I wouldn't have bought them if I'd realised. Seriously, the onboard sound is weedy compared to the Xonar. I can't recommend it enough!

Oh, except for the stupid 4-pin 'floppy' power connection, I broke one of the pins and had to replace the whole damn card.

Just to pull my own thread back on track for a minute, after taking stick I'm going to have one of the acrylic cases for larger carded items (boat patrol, sat def) that type of thing for sale.

It's brand new, still in it's bubble wrap and it's box.

I'm after £25 plus postage for it, which is about what it cost me to get done.

Now, let the tech talk resume....

Oh, and when it comes to tech I'm with Jaye - I hope to have one room (the study) with a kick ass media PC set up with video editing suite and hopefully some sound mixers and all that gubbins, but I like to keep the rest of the house a bit more homely, hence the phones and ultimately an iPad are for the front room, and, of course, a nice blu ray home cinema set up, but not too intrusive.

There's another alternative which Lisa has, have the PC in the den and run 12m HDMI cables to the living room and bedroom TVs, controlled by a wireless keyboard with built-in scroll ball. Pretty neat.

Excellent choice!
Personally I swear by external soundcards, but that would kill the entire concept of having everything in one box. ;)
