Hi,
Great work so far..was the B.F.T.B on the back of the mirror in the original, or did you add it in for fun?

Also looking @ the art work I think the :major: drives a Triumph TR-7, one of my favorite cars of the 70's, which makes him even cooler.

I've just taken a sneak peek @ a later episode of this story..it's a TR-7 alright in either Vermillion or Flamenco red, but in a later instalment he's upgraded to what looks like a Lotus Esprit. He certainly has good taste in sports cars I'll give him that..both of them would be in my dream garage. 8-)

Cheers Thundershot, The TR7 wow that was the ultimate 70's car as was the Lotus ..Bonds motor in "The Spy Who Loved Me" guess that was Geoff Seniors choice ..would make a good custom the Major in his civvies with his various motors...mind all these origin stories would make good figures .

Some do as there are some really expensive Military Tailors there . In the 80's I'm told you were given grants to get your dress uniforms, these days you are issued with your dress uniforms during Initial Training. So the story reflects the era it was written in.

In the RAF if I need anything new (Blue uniform) Officers have to buy it, Airmen / women get free replacements. We do get a uniform up keep allowance (tax related) and CS95 clothing is replaced free. So when I replaced my No 1 Uniform I paid £600 for it and my Mess dress (No5) was about £500 as well. Not cheap.

Thanks for answering my question , strikes me officers come from a totally different world than your working soldier without doubt back then class system bred officers not experience (does that still exist in modern British services , would someone like Chas be able to become an officer in this day and age? ) I know later on in story (Don't want to give too much away but The Major buys his Marines some new kit ..except its not from his wages lol the dastard )

A lot of people are commissioned from the ranks so Chas could probably make the break. The class thing generally applies to the Guards Regiments were you are expected to have a private income as well as Army pay. It doesn't happen too much in the RAF, all sorts are commissioned. The main problem we have are the two wing master race (aircrew), also a lot of young officers coming out of Cranwell are programmed to impress so they can be a pain in the arse as well.

Just get the maintenance chaps to forget a couple of bolts, make reference to the Nimrod and I'm sure they will come around, Paul. ;-)

A reference to Nimrod? How? Showing the future where mutants (but not Crimson Dynamo) are dead?
