Greatest TV show of all time
Re: Greatest TV show of all time
Well if we are not sticking strictly to the realm of Sci-Fi, then I have to add to my list.
The Shield, definitely in my top 5 shows of all time.
Alias, a very close second.
24, though not consistently good.
Due South, best show about a Canadian Mounty ever.
Tales of the Gold Monkey, don't remember it that well, but I do remember loving it.
Chuck
Supernatural
Pushing Daisies
All of Star Trek
Angle
Buffy
Original BSG
Buck Rogers
Now and Again, great show, but cut short with a cliff hanger ending.
Boston Legal, Shatners best role ever, even better than Kirk ever was. There I said it.
. . . And . . . so . . . many more . . .

Re: Greatest TV show of all time
Despite the fact that I love Star Wars (or maybe because of it) I'm not a big fan of sci-fi tv shows. I loved the 70s (or was it 80s) Buck Rogers show as a kid, and still enjoy it's campness now in a 60s Batman way.
Dempsey and Makepeace will always be the best tv show for me, a leading lady you'd want to bed and a leading bloke who you'd go the pub with. Michael Brandon made Harrison Ford look like a wuss, and could act him of screen. As for Glynis Barber .. words alone are not good enough.
The Flashing Blade was a top show too from my childhood, great theme tune, lots of sword fights and lovely ladies.
And wasn't Space Sentinels a great cartoon show? without Space Sentinels there would have been no MOTU or GI Joe cartoons.
Edit
Also is it bad that I really liked the Ross Kemp "Ultimate Force" series? man I loved that show, series 1 and 2 were the best.

Can't believe I (and everybody else) forgot to mention Rome!
Another one that fell under the axe...
Tudors isn't bad either. I was disinterested during the first series, but the second one drew me in.

Rome is excellent - but could do with a smidge more sex and violence for my liking

On touching the trig point, I found my thrill
To the east Brokeback Mountain, to the west, Benny Hill
I'll give you the grid ref, you might like to go

Is Rome good? I've got them on DVD but not got round to watching them yet. The mention of sex and violence has just got it promoted up my "to watch" list significantly though!

Very, very, very, very, very, very, very good.
I was just considering re-watching them in light of this thread.
THIRTEEN!!! THIRTEEN!!!

I'm watching Voyager while phone-surf, and as much as i like it I can't help but think that Kes lets the side down somewhat. She's just so wet! As for Rome, I can't recommend it highly enough, it might not be historically accurate but it's a rollocking good drama and the sets are amazing - even the graffiti is good!

Re: Greatest TV show of all time
My only criticism is <SPOILER ALERT> when Octavian grows up and is replaced by an older actor. Both actors deliver a fantastic performance, but they look nothing alike.
"Bloody good orders."

Voyager. So much promise, such a let-down. The first three series are the best stories, but aside from the Doctor, 7of9 and Tuvok they can all bollocks. Paris was the worst "bad-boy" ever, Torres was nowhere near Klingon enough, Chuckles was dismal, Hepburn was solid enough but as for Hairy Quim, we used to hope he'd die every week. Neelix? Gah. Give me Quark and Garak ANY day.
Stopping now before I get onto the lack of plot or villains.
